Damn this bolt all to hell, come off already! I'll have to pick up a bigger breaker tomorrow. I swear I almost broke my 15" one.

I bought a 22" breaker bar from Harbor Freight. It was $11 or $12.

I used a 25" breaker bar to loosen the pulley bolt. I was able to gain extra leverage by putting my foot against my garage wall. If anyone was watching, they might have thought I was being eaten by my car! I pushed so hard to loosen the bolt that I got a charley horse in my leg. This post and all of the comments were very helpful. Thanks everyone!

Automatic Transmission Perrin Crank Pulley Install

I have all the tools there is to install my new Perrin Crank pulley for my Scion Fr-S except for the special tool that Perrin says is required to install the new crank pulley for an automatic transmission car.

The quote in the instructions says "If car is equipped with automatic transmission pleace sonsult factory service manual. This will require a special tool that locks the flex plate from turning."

Any ideas on where to get this tool or if I really need it.

From what I've read, you need the tool, it something like it, for the AT. Personally, I've decided not to do the mod for now. Or at least until I get all the factory work done on her with the issues I've got.

Let me know what your opinions are after the installation. Good luck.

Literally finished the install today in 10 minutes flat. Just take off the intake and keep the air box on. Let it cool. The engine felt cool but Jesus that bolt holds heat since its in the engine.

Definitely notice a difference when rev matching. Not much when difference when accelerating. Don't think the engine spins down too quickly but spins up faster when out of gear or when the clutch is in.

Thanks for the diy.

Is the pulley undersized, or just lighter weight? I've seen some undersized ones for other cars that slow the accessories down too much at idle so you have charging issues if stuck in traffic, and the AC sucks unless you're revving above ~2500rpm.

From what I can find, this is just lighter?
