It's all hypothetical. You may even question what you've done..

Sorry we forgot there are old guys here that have been out of touch for a while. The Talking Heads and David Byrne, they were more than just a band they were philosophers. I know David so I'll check with him to make sure we have the concept right but I think we're on the right track.

Thanks for the insight.

OK, after looking up stuff, I see where you were coming from.

I don't "understand", but that's OK, I have a lot of gaps in my life experiences -

I understand that once a TOB goes out on these cars - it can take a lot of clutch associated parts with it.

You may wish to share what you are hearing/feeling that leads you to believe the TOB is going bad?

It sounds like all the videos people posted of their's going bad. Plus it shifts fine.

And I was a little wrong on my warranty. Turns out I bought it August 2nd 2014. I'm going to call the dealer when they open but I think I'm screwed.

and I'm out of luck. the TOB is a 3/36 part. dealer wants $1700 for stock replacement parts and labor.

looks like I'm just going to buy parts and do it myself. fml.

here's the worst part. I've got school to pay for next week and we're listing the house right now so we've got it all staged and I can't be in the garage with the gearbox on the floor while we're trying to show it.

Sounds like you need to get a non-dealer quote on that to me...

yeah, I'm going to ask the shop that does all our work for company vehicles but if it's not super cheap I'll just do it myself. I'm thinking at least $1000.

I'm thinking I'll just buy everything I need and if my clutch looks good enough return the clutch kit.

still shifts smooth and I don't drive it hard at all except a couple runs on the Dragon that's about it. it's just not fast enough to beat on and get any satisfaction.

First off, I'd suggest you call around to some local shops for a better price on a TOB replacement.

Second off, I wouldn't consider a car in the garage with a dropped transmission a show stopper for selling your house.

Good luck on both -

yeah, I've called a couple of other places. best price so far is $1200.

you don't think it'd be a problem and I don't either. but I live with a female that does. it's her house that's being sold. mine still has a tenant until the end of March because I'm a big fat wuss.

Well, in that case, I'd suggest you just pay have the TOB replaced. Why? Because since it is her house, it will be your fault (forever and ever) if the house doesn't sell during the first week it was listed, at full price or better, because you had your car tore a part in the garage -

TOB can be done in a couple hours especially if you have a friend or two. If you have someone that NEEDS to look at the house when you're working on it, leave trans under the car and take it off stands. We had mine done in under 2 hours.

Not sure how its a $1700 quote, pretty sure Subaru Job code is only 2.5-3 hrs and the part is under $75 bucks(cheaper from Toyota dealers)

ain't that the truth.

she's already freaking out since no one has come to look in the first 4 days. nvm the realtor had it listed as a condo and not a townhouse. there's some rule that makes it qualify as a "condo" but it's not at all and it still can be listed under a TH as well but it's not. I told her to straighten this guy out or I was. we've got her house now, buying another and selling mine in March with this guy. he stands to make a nice chunk of cash if he gets his act together.

but yeah I might have to suck it up and pay someone. if it wasn't for this house BS I would have sold it already and bought something else... maybe. I might end up with that new Corvette. generally speaking I don't care for domestics but that thing is pure sex on wheels. I'll probably end up waiting on Grand Sport or something with a few more options. although I don't know what else they can do to it.
