Yep, when we would travel by air, that kind of "baby basket" was quite handy. Just stick it (with the baby in it) on the floor of the middle seat between us. That was back in the days before they started overfilling planes.

When we would go out to eat we would just stick the basket and baby under the table. That worked fine with the first boy ..... not so much with the second ....

I often said that if the second boy would have been the first one, he would have been the last one........

Oh no folks, we aren't telling jokes.

Does the rear-facing seat fit with the front seat in place, it it's forward-most position (both seatback and seat base on it's track)? If so, I'd leave the front seat in place as it's adding a modicum of protection for the baby seat in the rear, especially from the front airbag, if deployed.

Actually with my baby seat I don’t even have to put the seat all the way forward or fully erect. But it’s damn close.
