All this small airplane talk reminds me of a back-in-the-Army story.

It was a hot day at Ft Benning, GA, when we were being exposed to air mobile operations. It was kind of boring because we weren't trudging through swamps on foot .... we were being air lifted to the LZ (Landing Zone) via Huey helicopters.

Now, we never flew with the doors closed and while seated on a narrow bench with just enough foot room to put your feet, the only thing that kept you from falling out was a safety strap that stretched the width of the side of the chopper.

So, to make things more interesting, we would seat the first timers in the middle, then the soldier on the end, would take up the slack in the safety strap ....... till one of them would lean against the strap to look down.

Then we would release the slack in the strap and the first timer would lurch forward .... just enough to make them think they were falling out ........

THE END

Mine: 2013 BRZ
Hers: 2006 BMW 550i
Ours: 2006 Chevy Express AWD

My wife and I both enjoy driving, to different extents, but we also need something to haul our fire team+ of kids around in. We have 3 individual car stalls, so plenty of space for what we have, but I want more, something along the line of a carriage house with a 2+1 garage setup. I had 4 cars (a DD and fun car for me) but I hated having a car outside in the summer (stored fun car in shop in the winter). I want to have more fun cars, or projects, etc, but not until I have the garage space for them.

To me this looks more like you have 2 cars, if you know what I mean. Would your 4th be a shared car or a sport car? I personally only plan to have 2 cars I call my fun cars, current 86 transforms into a car that gets modded and played with heavily and a strictly street sport car for the poser life. Anything else would be because of family or dogs/wolves.

Same. I miss being able to take the pup (75% arctic timber wolf) with me everywhere. The BRZ was my first new car, so I'm kinda nervous about letting him ride in it. Definitely, gonna find an older Forester or Cherokee to replace my 2000 Honda Prelude. Kind of lost interest in the Honda since purchasing the BRZ. But anyways, my third car is a 2009 Impala LTZ.

I have two weaknesses.

Cars.
and
Women.

Pretty much the same as you, I would keep the BRZ as my DD, modding it as I go along and the 4th would be something special that I would take pride in keeping stock (NSX, F355 Berlinetta, 964 Turbo, etc)

I love that you put the NSX first.

A 1997+ NSX manual with the 3.2L, that's clean would be nice... but most people would want $55-60k + plus for it. 15-25 years old, getting older... surely more collectable, especially if you like Honda.

At that kind of coin, I'd rather go 997 C2S or C4S , basically a 911 from 2003-2010 ... about. Way more performance then the NSX , and styling of a 911 is in large part iconic and timeless (in comparison to 99% all other cars out there). If the 911 is about 6+ years old, clean ones can be had for about 1/2 new price. Or if you like mid-engine like NSX, possibly a Cayman S.

I have always wanted one, once my BRZ is boosted it will answer the mail as far as need for speed is concerned, then I can appreciate a more significant car for what it was/is without feeling like I need to modify it.

I have had a couple Porsches and would definitely consider myself a P-car nutswinger, but they haven't made many cars in recent years that do it for me in the purist department like an NSX/F355 etc would. My wife wants a 997 C2S (PDK) for her next car, so that will be nice to have. In addition to the 964 Turbo, I could see myself in a 996 GT3 or 2010 GT3 RS, but I think I would go with the NSX or F355 first. I would also be getting an earlier NSX, the pop up lights looked better IMO.

93 NSX. That's all I want.

Sweet. Yeah I think it was in '01 or '02 was when Honda went with the non-pop up projector headlights. Pre 1997 it was a 3L , then went to 3.2L for 1997. To me a '97-2000 would be ideal , at the right price. A nice blue 2000 is on Autotrader now, 42k miles, but they want $75k for it !! I also prefer the pop-up headlights as well, Testerosa style, Miami vice .... but one more thing that could break.

Should have bought a NSX back in 2008-'11 , during great recession

Actually, for about $45-50k , you could probably find a NSX , with about 50-60k miles on it. Probably 2nd or 3rd owner. Gotta be a manual though, and non T-top .... your color.

Three cars is nothing; five is manageable; once you hit six and above per person then you need to be strategic about their usage and keep them in rotation.
