Ehh, I mean shifting in a manual is effortless on command, you get used to it and everything else falls in line too.

Try rev matching 100% perfectly into 1st as you approach a stop light and lemme know how that goes for you.

You probably wouldn't even be able to easily get the gear shift into 1st as you're decelerating due to how hard it is on the synchros, and then your chances of getting a perfect smooth rev match like the AT does are slim to none.

I guess I am not seeing a reason to rev match in to first while stopping besides to make noise. I have rev matched first before.... but followed it with acceleration.

Exactly, there isn't a point to it except to make glorious noise if you have an aftermarket exhaust

I don't down shift to 1st with my AT FR-S before stopping since I don't like revving the engine before stopping. If I certainly know that I am slowing down to stop, I just leave it to the computer to downshift in the quietest way. If I know that I am slowing down to accelerate after that, like taking a corner, or there is a chance that light can turn green in an open intersection, then I downshift while slowing down to be ready for

yea, I can agree with 1st gear...when I had my '13 with the auto, I was always downshifting into 1st as early as possible whereas with my current frs if I'm being honest I've only rev matched into 1st maybe 2 or 3 times...and I only went to around 5 K as opposed to 7 K with the auto..

I usually never force a downshift into first in the auto using the paddles. Doesnt feel right, downshifting into first I let the computer do its thing
