I got into Trance when Tiesto released In My Memory album. Classic and started from there. Daft Punk whom I already knew also got me into it. I was like 9 years old LOL.

It's too bad he stated that he is no longer going to produce Trance and decided to go with House or something like that (don't recall). I do like a few of his songs, them being:

1. Imogen Heap and Tiesto - Hide & Seek (Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise remix)
2. Tiesto - Alone in the Dark (Edward Carnby remix)

I recall the first EDM producer I liked and that was Daft Punk with their Discovery album back in the early 2000s. However, I don't recall the first Trance producer. I wanna say it was Armin Van Buuren.

I love Trance but it isn't popular as it used to be so I can see why he made a genre change to still be relevant. House is getting more and more popular.

Progressive and Electro "House". Not traditional house.

I only recently started exploring EDM when my interest was piqued by a former coworker...

Prior to that I was one of those that called it all Techno and he was quick to point out that I was an idiot for that.

I'm still not sure of the difference between the sub-genres and I'm not entirely certain what it is I like.

I don't mind DnB (fricken love Netsky) but I can't stop listening to Deadmau5's albums. What would his work be classified as? I enjoy Avicii and the Kyau and Albert tracks posted earlier in this thread really hit the sweet spot for me.

I'll find myself listening to BPM and Electric Area on Sirius frequently and a lot of the vocal stuff on BPM is enjoyable to me but I can do without the vocals as well.

I used to listen to Technobase.fm's stream a few years ago, since that is what I liked and I had a friend I used to raid with (WoW) also listen to it, so we had private binds in vent and we used talk about the songs so no one would hear us, but if it involves streaming music, I only listen to DI.m's Trance channel. The shows I like to listen to are played when I'm at work, so I rarely ever miss them. In fact, Ferry Corsten has his show today, Corsten's Countdown, at 2pm (I believe, check DI.fm's calendar for the full list of shows). I've really started to like listening to it. A couple other ones I really like, include Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance and Markus Schulz's Global DJ Broadcast are broadcasted on Thursdays from 12pm to 4pm EST.

When it comes to acquiring music, and doing it legally , I either use iTunes and if they don't have it, Beatport.

@Chewie4299, if you're interested, Markus Schulz is playing in NYC on the 1st. He is more of a darker side of Trance with Progressive. It's a party for his new album, Scream, so I'm sure a good amount of the songs will be from there (which is very good so far with what has been released!), but KhoMha is playing too, and his mixes are excellent too! I'm meeting up with someone I know in the city we'll be going, but if you're interested, let me know! Should be an excellent show!

Oh man. The date is terrible for me but if it weren't I would definitely be interested. I've never been to that type of show.

If it helps, it doesn't start till 11pm and I wouldn't be surprised it goes until morning. It's one of the afterpartys for Electric Zoo, which is that weekend.

I've been listening to Trance for a few years myself and I still haven't been to a live show in person. I'm really looking forward to this.
