Sorry if this was covered on a prior page of this thread, but I noticed the following rule in the 2018 SSC rules (specifically the bolded part):

Silicone replacement hoses are allowed as alternate components provided they meet the requirements of SoloŽ Rules section 13, Street Category, with regard to size, shape, location, and performance equivalence. Replacement induction system air intake hoses must also match the standard part in stiffness, contour, and internal wall texture.

Would this allow for this use of an aftermarket intake inlet tube like the one made by Perrin or Mishimoto? I bought a used BRZ that already had a Perrin tube on it, so it would be nice to be able to keep it on there and leave the stock sound tube out of the engine bay.

Just googled perrin intake tube for BRZ and found this:

"The PERRIN Performance silicone inlet hose for FR-S and BRZ will increase engine airflow and horsepower "

I don't think they are legal.

Yeah, I guess that marketing claim would be in violation of the part of the rule that mentions "performance equivalence". Although, I'm not really sure an aftermarket intake tube does a whole lot for HP or Torque. I think the biggest benefit is just cleaning up the engine bay. Oh well!

A broken car with a broken image link? (looks like we don't have permission to view the image)

I managed almost 40 miles in my replacement yesterday, but still a long way from the 1000 mile mark, assuming it's important to get there before I start the AutoX season. Hah.

Assuming you got yourself another twin based on context, but... well, regardless. Good to see you back in the game, whatever it is.

Going to switch off between the co drive and this to lighten the wear over the year. Should be a fun year!

I will be down in FL probably pretty close to that date (from Wisconsin) but will be up in Gainesville though. Will probably shoot for going to the March 10th or 11th Buccaneer Region events in a rental car

I have family in Naples, so I was going to post on the FB group in the next week or two inquiring about a co-drive at the Ft Myers match tour or Dixie.

I really wanna see how the first few events go before I commit to buying a twin for DD duty and SSC, so if that does happen I would plan on both Bristol events and nationals.
