Washing it is key, I was wearing a bikini in summer while washing mine and people just had to keep talking to me, it was insane. They just love the car

Last year before I moved from my small hometown I would go on afternoon drives through our "Main Street" and see tons of like younger kids than I (Im only 18) Riding bikes and stuff. I recall a certain time where a group of kids maybe 10-12 had me doing pulls back and forth through the street and they were going ballistic. good times.

2 weeks ago I was doing a small road trip and I was in this small town. Parked to check out the downtown area. I was standing next to my car and this little kid with his parents was walking by. The kid was like "oh look daddy, it's a brz. It's a nice brz!" and the dad was like, "yeah it is a nice car... etc etc"

This kid was like, 5-7 years old... I was in shocked. Not only this kid knew what BRZ was but he didn't say scion/frs like the rest of the crowd lol.

The one thing I have noticed, here in Dallas you need to Valet a lot. My truck and everything else I have owned is parked it’s the north 40. My little yellow BRZ seems to be parked up front all the time. The other night leaving Mi Cocina my buddy’s Porsche and my BRZ were in the 2 first slots. All the 80K boring BMW’s were off in the north 40?

I refuse to let valet drivers touch my car. In my old E30 M3 (like 5 years ago) I had a valet that decided to clutch kick while he was pulling out of the lot. I saw the whole thing and my dashcam caught it too. The valet company refused to do anything about it.

Living in Dallas, there are a ton of valet places, but I'd much rather walk the 1-2 blocks instead of letting some teenager mistreat my baby.

I also tend to treat my cars better than I treat most people so I'm a little crazy.

With the stupid way valet lots are so often crammed past capacity, I'm more worried about door dings than valets hooning in my car.

On Halloween I drove over to a friend's neighborhood to take my daughter Trick or Treating over there. There were already kids out and as I slowly drive by I hear some kid say "That kid's car is lit". I just laughed at the word kid as I am probably older than his father. LOL

Welcome to my life where maybe 0.00000000000001% of the population even knows what a Toyota 86 is just because that re-branding happened. I've been asked if my car was a v6, and even a v8.......... Like do you hear a gargling sound of a v8.....?? Some guy in a RAV4 while in traffic asked me to put down my window and had all kinds of questions about what the car even was lol.

Just in costco yesterday to buy tires, lady asking me what my car is, I tell her "2017 Toyota 86" and I paused because name was done. She sat there and stared at me.. "So what's the car besides a Toyota???" THE NAME IS DAMN 86

Around here .000000000000000001% have ever even heard of Scion so the explanation was even more fun.

"Well it's a FRS badged as a Scion which is a branch of Toyota and in the rest of the world it is called a Toyota 86 except for some places where they have a GT86 and it is built by Subaru which has an almost identical version called a BRZ except that they have two different levels called Limited and Premium but the Limited is actually the higher level than the Premium"

This is usually followed by "So who makes Skeeon?"

I am all too familiar with that explanation to people when trying to describe the car that I wanted in the past lol. Now it's more
me: "do you know what the Scion FRS is?"
them: "Maybe"
me: "Okay, well my car is that car, but in other countries it was the GT86, so now the Scion brand is dead as of 2016, and they re-badge/renamed it the Toyota 86"... takes breath
them: "OOOOHHHHHH??????? Thaaaat car." When they still don't know what either one is.

Even "CAR PEOPLE" don't know what this car is lol. The limited/premium thing though is only the states I thought? Which is god damn stupid, who names a higher model limited and a lower model premium.. It's not like it's called "Limited Edition", which that would've even make sense.
