that's some interesting mileage! one can assume the mileage will be better at a 'sustained" cruise in the 60 to 65 range.it's interesting to throw out there that the manual which has different gearing. could possibly get 35,or so at a sustained cruising speed of ,say 60,or 65.

jmaryt,
Yes it would be better with cruise at 60 - 65 but that's almost sacrilegious, like driving a Lambo in a sand pit! :-)

Is it redundant to have it in both sport, and VSC sport mode at the same time?

Nope. Sport is for the transmission, VSC Sport Mode is the stability control.

Two seperate buttons for two seperate systems.

How can we retain this 2 options on? Or do we really have to turn it on every time we drive?

sport mode

Well... the dynamic rev matching works in both auto & manual mode.
The way I read the brochure was that you need to be in D and press sport mode before you go into manual mode, to get the increased throttle response & quicker shifts. It sounds like if you are already in manual mode and press sport, the system won't go into full sport mode. It does seem like there is a difference, but i could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time).
Any clarification would be helpfull.

I am driving with manual mode i dont see any difference if you press the sport with it.. From d and sport it will be like manual mode but does not have much control when you need to down shift.. Its still fun though.. M with vsc mode.. Perfect when your late to work.. I just pray every month that i dont get speeding fines.. Lol..

If it's not too bad, I'll keep it on all the time. The car is so much more responsive in sport mode, and actually feels safer to me (when I have to make a quick pass or evasive maneuver.
I ran the test myself 2014 fr-s. I found in automatic conservative driving i had 38 mpg avg. In Automatic sport (As conservative as you can be when your engine sounds like a sexy bat out of hell) i was averaging 28 mpg. In summary sport mode cost me about 10 miles to the gallon average.

Side note, I have gotten upwards of 40 mpg. But I also use 91 octane Ethanol-Free fuel. I'm annoying like that.
