I didn't realize that either regarding the NC/RX8, no wonder I didn't like driving either car lol.

Well "platform" really is sort of definitive and not open to interpretation.

"A car platform is a shared set of common design, engineering, and production efforts, as well as major components over a number of outwardly distinct models and even types of cars, often from different, but related marques."

The platform however does not define the car nor make the cars built on the same platform the same. It is unfortunate that so many think the term "platform" in cars refers to the actual chassis. It doesn't, even though the chassis can be part of the platform.

It was still misinformation. The NC and the RX8 shared a platform but that does not mean one was a convertible version of the other.
