I would like to concur with Coyote, absolute disaster!

Impossible to order anything, would much rather deal with a dealer.

Even the dealers had to order cars online for deposits they had in hand!

Please Subaru Aus don't do this again

I guess it was a good way to collect deposits on cars they knew they couldn't supply.

[QUOTE=Hachiroku;318334]

Among the amazing BRZ online statistics:
  • Subaru website traffic initially quadrupled from 12 noon AEST
  • In the first five minutes alone, there were eight orders
  • 50 BRZs were sold in the first 1.5 hours
  • Available stock was exhausted by 1547 AEST

Would have sold out in 10 mins if the site allowed!

Yes, I should have said "a good way to collect deposits for cars they couldn't supply, if it worked".

At the end of the day, they sold their cars ... so will herald it a success.

Surely they have not sold 2000+ cars. The allocation for this year is only 201 cars. Will be a long wait for you if so. My order is #586. Wondering if these are a code for trim / colour? Mine is Galaxy Blue Silica / Standard.

I know a lot have complained about how Subaru allocated cars here as well, but in the end doing a first-come first-serve free for all would not have worked well either and allocating a set amount per dealer allowed a decent distribution of cars. Doing it online would have been a disaster.

The bigger issue with Subaru here at this point is the lack of information they are supplying people about their orders, leaving people to have to call them constantly.

It could be generating order numbers early on in the process, so people just clicking around having a look are ratcheting up the order numbers... That would be pretty stupid but so is building a site you knew would get a huge influx of traffic and not have it hardened to deal with it (4x increase in traffic from normal isn't that big)...

So is building anything on top of Drupal.

If it's not that though then holy crap yeah that's going to be a long wait!

Wow, it makes me happy that I actually got a deposit on a BRZ in Canada. I cannot wait until my blue goddess arrives!

Correct. Subaru confirmed that only 290 were ordered on the first day. Seems that as soon as you search for a dealer in a post code an order number is generated.

So with the server crashes and people just checking it out, order numbers v cars ordered is way out.

I found an article published today, reviewing the BRZ and mentioning the sell out online:
