Don't worry, get the one you like. Some people will tell you that a really heavy knob will cause some extra wear by putting pressure on the shift forks. Dunno. There is also a giant thread about knobs around here somewhere.

Edit: Shift knob thread...

I split the difference with this with white delrin.

That looks pretty nice! The one I got right now is some generic carbon fiber shift knob. I got it because I was a Car noob. Thinking that it's actually heavy. Turns out, it was same weight as the OEM shift knob. Also, I forgot about our lockout. The shift knob doesn't cover it, so there's a white part of the lockout showing...

OP, how the shift knob feels depends a bit on how you shift. I tend to upshift (2, 4 and 6) by "flipping" the stick itself, not by firmly but gently grasping the throbbing knob. A heavier knob makes it easier to shift that way. Some people like a big heavy knob, some like a light one. It's OK to like them all!

Get one, just not one of the butt-plug looking knobs, unless you're into that.

LMAO! That last sentence made me laugh!

I'm seriously thinking about it. There's some pros and cons for sure. I do want that smooth shifting. I just changed to Motul. It is very smooth; however there's still that small smooth crunch when I switch to third. It's not a grind. Just that crunch feel...

OP, I've had the Ashiko for a couple of years and really like it. It does seem to make shifting easier, but that could be different to everyone. The only downside is it can get hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It is metal.

OP do you have a short throw shifter installed? I find it easier to shift when paired with a slightly heavier shift knob. A slightly lighter knob gives you more feel, but I'm always afraid a Duracon knob will crack overtime.

Oh I see! Man, I'm leaning towards getting it again. I'm trying to haggle with my friend if he'd give it to me for a lower price. Lol.

He sold his BRZ, so he has a lot of extra parts...

Check out the knob thread, OP. There are way too many choices out there. After thinking about it a bit, a heavier knob does improve the "feel" of the shift. It's a bit more mechanical feeling moving that weight around compared to the very light stock knob. Hope that makes sense.

Where did you get that my FRS is slipping?
You implied that in post #7. Or, at least that's how I read it.

Now we know why there will never be a turbo. The acceleration forces would be so massive that it would always pop out of 1, 3 and 5 without a co-driver to tend to the transmission. I knew mine would still be useful!
