Trading in 2013

Hi,
I'm considering trading in my 2013 for a 2017 performance package. The Brembo brake package, revised suspension and new final drive ratio really appeal to me. However, I'm concerned about buying a new model car because normally new cars have quality issues early on in production. Are the changes to the engine and tech big enough to be worried about this?
Thank you

I would imagine that the 2017 is every bit as reliable as your 2013 from a drivetrain perspective. Especially the components that you listed. Good luck.

It is some added goodies and a new bumper so I highly doubt there will be issues. The engine changes were made more to deal with some concerns in the first version. They have actually done small parts changes in the engines every year since it was released they just didn't make a big deal about it. Not exactly a "new" model in the overall scheme of things.

I understand that, but just didn't know how to word it. So nothing changed will have issues early in production, is what you're saying?

Yep. It is not an early production car that went from design to production. They just worked out some kinks and added some pretties. In fact it would be way less likely to have any issues than the 13 that you already own.

If you survived owing a 2013, the 2017 should be a walk in the park

They actually reinforced some of the engine internals and body bracing for the '17 (there's a full internal Subaru change list floating around if you google for it), so I'd imagine that it's likely a bit more reliable even.
