It was too far to walk to get the dremel. The claw hammer also allowed me to get some frustration out.

100% agree...the torque dip is a really silly (and hella old now) complaint..under 4 K it is acceptable for stop & go situations & city commuting while above 5 K it is perfect for spirited driving..if you are dipping below 5 K while driving hard then you aren't downshifting soon enough...and the stock pedal placement is still rather very good. I don't have large feet and it is very comfortable for me...hilariously it is easier than performing heel & toe on the logitech g27 pedals

It doesn't move much.

The real fix is to swap to the JDM exhaust tips. They are much longer (at least an inch) than the USDM exhaust tips. I actually swapped my stock tips with someone else for their JDM tips. The '15-'17 USDM tips look better on the '13-'14 exhaust than the JDM tips do. Subaru changed the pipe length between the 13-14 and 15-17 mufflers where the tips attach.

I guess there is a US regulation about how far the tips can stick out from the bumper on newer cars that dictated how deep the tips are sunk in stock form.

There are dollar limits in how much damage can be done at a low speed collision which would probably account for the tips being set back. Exhaust being pushed forward can mess up a pile of costly stuff.


There is also a requirement that anything hot be protected against direct contact with body parts . This could apply to tips sticking way out but nobody should be walking that close to hot back bumpers in the first place.

The torque dip is an opinion, not an argument. Lots of people are not bothered by it, lots are, that's fine.

I actually find it easier to heel/toe my G27 pedals, they are totally adjustable

Although, someone made a comment on my video that the BRZ gas pedal is adjustable too? So, I need to check into that...even though I have the Cucso pedal cover.

I'm not even going to comment on the tips anymore, you guys are killing me (thanks johan for the info though!).

obviously it's subjective. The 15-17 tips sit flush with the bumper on 13-14 mufflers. Some people prefer that, other people are ricers.

Can the exhaust on stock 2017's eventually melt or warp all that plastic stuff? They seem so set in. I would adjust them out a bit, they seem super stuck inside. 150k miles of that has to do something to plastic I would guess? My mini has pipes sticking slightly outside of bumper clearance. The chrome on them has heated up and tarnished some. I clean them off all the time when I detail the car. I spend a while sudsing and stroking them vigorously to make them appealing.

Even though set in the hot gases are forced out and away from the plastic so ya you may have some soot but the worst of the heat isn't doing anything. When moving of course you are also blowing the heat away. I suppose if you left it sitting there idling for hours then there may be a build up. I was worried about heat with my TRD tips since they pretty much fill the hole but both the valance and my cheap ass ABS diffusor have shown zero signs of heat effect after almost 100K miles. Don't think you need to worry.
