They only mentioned briefly the SC car still has full stock exhaust system.

and they are also couple thousand ft above sea level.

Anyone maybe consider that the SC owner isn't shooting for the moon on power, and just wants more than stock without reaching the point of overpowering the chassis? It has enough grunt to keep you happy, but the car is still balanced and fun to drive in everything but a straight line, even on the stock wheels and tires. That's the car's purpose, not to have 500hp and win drag races.

I agree with Overdrive, the point of the video was to show the dollars vs HP/TQ gains and when it's worth it or not, in my opinion.
I like that Todd's car was lightly mod'd and could feel the results as well as see the gains.
But as Engineering Explained video shows in the past the most beneficial mod is tires first, Driver improvement and FD.

Engineering Explained does some great stuff, truly, but the guy's voice grates on my nerves so bad. It's an exercise for me getting through one of his videos.

IIRC, the power that the SC guy is making is about right for the jackson racing SC carb tune after you factor in drivetrain loss and variance between dyno readings.

Doesn't sound unreasonable to me. I think it's a great power bump without being excessive. I just don't know if the cost is justifiable to me. It may very well be to someone else, and clearly is to at least one guy named Igor with a white FR-S somewhere on the west coast, lol.

I'm a sucker for superchargers (er, no pun intended, honest) but I'd personally want to stick with NA mods on this car similar to how the Everyday guys have.

@shiv Can you tell us more about the tune? Was it an e-tune you did for them? One of your off the shelf tunes? Inquiring minds...

It wasn't a custom tune. I built a tune file for his car based upon a similarly modified local car (with the same FT86 Speedfactory catted header) I tuned a few weeks before. In our next OTS map release (v3.0), this particular tune file will be named Stage 2. Whereas tune files for our OpenFlash cat-less header will be named Stage 2+. There will no longer be a designated UEL and EL tune files. I was happy to see Todd realize similar gains on his car at 8000' above sea level, hundreds of miles away. To Todd's credit, I suggested the idea of flying out to tune the car personally but he thought it would be better to not get any special treatment and to see what an OTS tune would provide since that is what 99% of our customers use

What a spoiler! Now the question is, when the v3 will be launched?

Interesting - so from what I remember, the EL and UEL stage 2 tunes used to be fairly difference (i.e. big overlap in mid range for the EL tune that the UEL didn't have). If I read that right - now there's one tune for both EL and UEL catted, and one tune for both EL and UEL un-catted? Is it just optimized for the UEL and EL guys should get a custom tune, or did you figure out some magic way to optimize for both designs? thanks!

The reality is that all headers of different design will require unique VVT mapping to optimized engine torque. The difference between two visibly different UEL headers will be just as significant as the difference between any UEL and EL header. So I've found that have a generic tune for EL and UEL does no one any favors unless they use the same exact headers we did during OTS map development. There are also many other improvements to the tune other than VVT mapping so I except both UEL and EL header uses to be pleasantly surprised with the changes. We will also be releasing tunes for 91 and 93oct as before.

Cool. Will there still be an OFH specific tune?
