yep, ordered their v2 kit; right before their price hike too. Excited to compare having a supercharger vs. a turbo. should be interesting.

Just an update. Some frustrations. Snapped an oil pan bolt due to the torque wrench not telling me it was torqued to spec. Able to fix it pretty easy though. Awaiting throwout bearing before reinstalling motor. I have the verus clutch fork and an act clutch ready to be installed as well.

Setup custom boost controller. Bought a mac valve for 45 bucks and fittings for 10 dollars. Cut off a male Subaru evap plug that came with my spare engine and soldered them together. Saved close to 100 bucks lol. Also made a custom bracket for less than 10 dollars with home Depot stuff.

Engine is finally back in. Little bit of a challenge installing the engine with the turbo kit already on it. But definitely well worth it.

Just to give an update, getting tuned by HRI. James is awesome. Installed JDM aero underpanels too. Here's a couple pics. That is all

Nice. Good luck this time!

Are you doing a dyno tune now or still etune?

Still etuning. Maybe I'll make a trip out to where HRI is and get an in person road tune/Dyno tune.. but so far all I can say is that he is super responsive. Answers all questions. Doesn't leave you hanging dry and always returns emails. I can now understand why he's considered one of the best for this platform.. his work is just phenomenal I'm on my 8th revision and I'm about to start ethanol tuning.

It's sad to say, but I really don't trust anyone locally in the Chicagoland area to tune these cars...

Thank you for sharing this build with us. Broken motors are a pain in the ass as are undeveloped aftermarket parts lol. Guys like you make it easier for others to make a good choice of setups.

No prob man! Hopefully this build can show a couple things here and there for learning! I just like to share my experiences with everyone so if they are considering something similar they can do some comparison before they take the plunge.

Sorry if you answered this, I just went through the thread and couldn't find the answer- how many psi were you running max with the SC and at what RPM was it?

I'm just curious. It seems that some engines can handle boost and somne can't and there's no rhyme or reason

In my personal experience it seems to be less about the boost and more about the tune / fuel. The rods don't tolerate any sort of detonation once the knock surpasses the ecu's ability to pull timing. My first motor bent a rod on 91oct with a 9psi stock Vortech kit.

sorry, that I didn't see this. it doesn't notify me when people post in the thread. I'll have to do a better job of keeping up to date. depending on the day (weather and altitude) i'd see anywhere from 10-14psi.. i had a rev limit at 7600? more or less but not too much higher than oem.

When my motor went, at the time I was hitting about 12psi on the back straight and in the video, I was decelerating and the rpm was at about maybe 5k? i'd have to watch it again to see where the rod actually snapped in half.
