water injector to enhance cooling/reduce detonation is a bit different thing then these .. hydrogenators. Though in these times i guess using E85 may help reach same goals simpler.

I'm on the Hydrogen (fuel cell) bandwagon. I think it is a much better solution than electric, the hydrogen is more practical to deliver to a station, takes less time to fill, and you can drink from the exhaust.

Sadly, not enough funding was put into it but if the Tesla was Hydrogen powered it would be much more tempting to me, although I suppose it would have to be named the Cavindish, which just doesn't roll as well off the tongue.

I have a way better way to save on fuel. And it doesn't cost you a dime.

When I bought my BRZ in 2015 I started adding a little H20 to my gasoline every time I did a fill up, about a cup of H20 in case you are wondering. The engine hardly notices such a small amount and it takes about week for an engine to get used to it. So after a week I increased it to two cups. I have been doing this increase for almost two years now and only have to fill up my tank halfway with premium. For the other half I use plain tap water. I still haven't told the car that in two years time I will be running exclusively on water !

I also have a tip on how to charge you phone using a microwave. Let me know if you are interested !

Battery electric hybrids make sense in the relatively short term cost wise. Two major issues though, lithium is a finite element necessary for the batteries and based on current estimated reserves it will become scarce over time. So, either an alternate battery type is used or the price gets astronomical eventually. Secondly the battery lifespan is probably less than the overall life of a (quality) car. Imagine the economics of buying a used Tesla with less battery capacity and/or needing a $15K+ replacement.

Fuel cell IS ideal in several ways; there is no delivery to filling stations. The hydrogen is produced on site by electrolysis, using water and electricity. And filling time can be 5 mins. The biggest issue is the cost of the fuel cell itself relative to the car itself. I have read that some time in 2014 or 2015 a Korean university had developed a means to produce a fuel cell using graphite rather than platinum as the catalyst. That would be a huge step forward provided there aren't big tradeoffs.
Toyota developing the Mirai after Honda did their Clarity trial a few years ago indicates they see this now moving toward viability. I look forward to it and hopefully one day we will see mostly fuel cell and very small displacement gas vehicles dominating the roads.

Or, we can continue as we are and fulfill Stephen Hawking's prediction that humans will become extinct if we don't look to inhabit other planets.

The idea that the Auto industry is holding back all this technology because of some conspiracy with the oil industry is what makes these scams flourish.

If any of these fuel economy tricks worked, imagine the competitive advantage that the company that either patented it first or implemented it first would have? Imagine the additional sales, money, happy shareholders etc.

Even (real) electric Superchargers are starting to be used by the auto industry, because they legitimately work and they haven't been around in the aftermarket for very long.
