I live in jersey too. I take my LandCruiser out when the roads are wet and salty. If you have this as your only car just take it to a do it yourself carwash and use the rinse setting and clean underneath. Everything you can reach with the spray wand, suspension, exhaust, anything you can reach with it. I do this once a week if I need to and after I have driven on the wet salty NJ roads. It's worth the effort and cold spray in your face in the long run.

Kind of self-explanatory, but once a week spray down at a car wash (or full wash if you want to spend the money) is about the norm around these parts.
PIP was coated eh? Probably in preparation for tomorrow night. |

just go to self-car wash and just spray to get off salts.

Check weather, if more snow and salt coming just rinse. If roads are dry and it looks like no snow for a week or so than maybe a good wash.

I have lived with salt for decades and have experienced what it does to cars first hand. It's pretty bad.
Any car that i drive in Winter gets Fluid Film NAS once per year.

For me, fighting salt is sort of like trying to win an argument with my wife... who I love more than anything on this planet, so don't get me wrong...but there's really NO fighting it. You can only prolong the pain. I live in central NYS.. the salt capital of the galaxy. In fact Syracuse is PROUD of it, and calls itself "Salt City" because, so it says, of the salt mined here ages ago. Locals know, however, that it truly refers to their winter highway management priorities.
I really only achieved happiness once I completely gave up trying to fight salt. I drive, salt eventually kills my car, I buy another one. However, "eventually" has always been at least 10 years. By that time, I've put, usually, 200K miles on the car. The FR-S.. well.. I like it.. a lot... but I ain't gonna worry about the salt. Life's too short..
