The one thing to keep in mind too is that you'll carry more speed into 10, so you will have to brake earlier or harder. Oh, I just realized that you can probably keep your steering input all the way to just as you crest 9b (not 9a as I posted earlier). From there it really depends which line you want to take through 10. Gotta revisit my videos, lol.

Sadly, I'm not from Ottawa, otherwise I'd be at Calabogie more often, as well as attending the MCO events at Scotia (or Canadian Tire Place as it will be known). I do know Dave T, if that means anything. :P

It's a combination of both, really. We have a mutual friend in common - the guy he's car sitting for.

Kink is faster in comparison because you've gained more speed because of the length of the front straight. From what I remember from Nationals back in 2008 a lot cars were just tapping or lifting as well (there were some that were flat out but those guys were simply crazy ). Kink is similar to 4 Left (lift, turn, throttle). What makes Stadium 1 different is the fact that you're turning all the way to 10 (instead of coming back to a straight). I stay in 4th because you don't have time (or want) to shift during that stretch and unbalance the car.

I was there on Monday with a BMW Car Club of Ottawa advanced driving school (in my 330i) and had a blast. Got 225/45R17 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, Ferodo DS2500 brake pads, stainless steel brake lines and ATE Super Blue brake fluid installed on the FR-S for Friday.

I'm probably going to regret this.......

New FRS owner here, just picked it up in October.

Thinking of taking it to the track next season and based on a bunch of reading, figure I should probably upgrade the brake system (pads/lines/fluid) and tires.

Just curious what your upgrades ended up costing you and looking for a recommendation on where to get them installed.

I'm not planning on doing any hardware engine / exhaust mods but I am getting an OpenFlash tablet to tune the FRS. It should be here before the snow flies.

Mine is Ultramarine. The best colour! :-) No good pics of it yet.

I'm torn on the whole track thing. I have a terrible feeling if I go once, I will keep going. I figure I'll probably upgrade in the following order:

1. OpenFlash (already on the way)
2. Brake lines/fluid
3. Replace pads after burning them out on the track
4. Tires. Again, replacing the stock ones after burning them out on the track.

Other than that, I'm thinking I'll just stay stock.

Probably true, once you get on the track, you will be hooked!

I would recommend upgrading your pads first (I have HP+)and upgraded fluid.
The tires are not that bad on the track, plus you will learn much quicker what the limits of the car are.

Good idea for the OFT, I am looking to get one in spring also.

Good news is that MCO is likely to have a much larger qty of track days next year. You will learn much quicker with instruction also.

i agree with andre pads are probably the biggest thing to get before going out to track. luckily its pretty cheap to do. i got pads and fluid for around 400 bucks and installed it myself. its a pretty easy job that most can do on their own.
