That group had just stopped. There was way more stopped up ahead.

What was the FRS driver holding in their hand when they half rolled out of the car? Phone?

The cop was obvious;y dealing with something way up ahead you can see the lights before the crash. He was there within about 30 seonds but probably had to run a ways. The rest were right there so it is not reasonable to condemn him.
If you view the link I provided the FRS shows the car behind her hit her first. The cop had stopped suddenly which may have cause chain reaction. Nonetheless it was inattentive driving & following too close.

Watch really close at between .29 and .31. She very clearly taps the car in front of here enough it's rear end bounces up before she gets nailed from behind. Now if the car hadn't come across and nailed her it probably would have been just a paint swap but she did indeed hit them first. There was a pile of traffic already stooped in front of the cop that anybody watching ahead could have seen especially the car that changed lanes.

Edit:
After watching the first video blown up on my better monitor at home the FRS hit the car in front hard enough to crumple just a split second before the other gets her from behind and drives her back into it again.

That multiple car accident on the freeway yesterday made traffic horrendous for those traveling west bound.
Nice soundtrack. Happiest pileup I've ever seen.

Nonetheless all those cars were driving way too close and inattentive driving was the cause of the accident from what the news reports said. I'm sure attorney's have been contacted by those involved in the crash.

OH no doubt! Some of them (like the FRS) were actually accelerating while everybody ahead of them had the brake lights on. I must have watched that damn video 20 times now I was so fascinated by the shear stupidity shown.

Yeah... so sad.

On a lighter note, Hawaii has traffic? Or where those every single vehicle in that state on the only road?

Another lesson to be learned from this:
There were at least TWO cars with onboard cameras, likely more that recorded the accident.

The days are over where you can get in an accident and lie about it.
Someone surely caught it on camera.

Yes, for a small island we got heavy duty traffic! Thank goodness I live in town and don't have to fight that traffic going westbound.
