I'm looking at the D3200 for a first time DSLR. Would either of these lenses be decent for taking pictures of cars?

It's like buying a more expensive point and shoot. Depending on your budget, I'd recommend you buy a used, but better, camera. Kit lenses (the one it comes with) will never yield the best results, but are a good place to start. To be honest, it doesn't really matter what you buy. As long as you go out, shoot and practice. Happy shooting!

Not bad M3bassman. I was up at that Bear's Tooth sign a few years back. It was a fun drive to get up there. BTW, what kind of lens are you using with the T2I, I have the same camera. My landscape shots also have some blue tinge for mt range that are far away, wonder if that's the lens or the camera.

That road is awesome. I ran into that Lambo at the top and it turned out to be MotorTrend filming Epic Drives. Random chance for sure. Did you also drive the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway? The blue tint is the lens. My 18-55 is bad with that and purple fringing. The L glass i have shot had almost no hint of it although i was shooting different subjects and thus could be part of why it was absent. That said, i am able to remove both with post editing. What software do you use? I recently added the Canon 10-18STM to my collection of glass. I would highly recommend it for landscapes. having played with it and the 10-22, i feel the $300 price tag for the 10-18 really is a bargain. shot these two shots this last week with the new lens. ![]()

That's awesome that you ran into the motortrend group! Were their folks pretty cool to chat with? My dad and I were in Yellowstone and we drove up to that point from the Yellowstone side so it could be the Joseph highway.
Good to know that the tinge is from the glass, guess you do get something more for the crazy price difference. I can get rid of most of it with lightroom but have to be selective so you don't lose the blue for the sky/water/other blues. Also, I recently did pick up a canon 10-18 and it's a sweet lens. Though learning how to use ultra wide angle lens is an interesting learning process. [QUOTE=m3bassman;2039053]All those shots you see are with the 18-55 kit lens that came with the body.
