TTAC also wrote a quick blurb on this, with a snarky quip.

Whether you believe the veracity of the source of the two articles, the fact is that typical dealer practices are killing interest in this car and devaluing it.

I saw this exact same thing happen with the FJ Cruiser when it came out. Within months there were 5 or 6 unsold trucks sitting on dealer lots.

I think its the quite opposite of that article at least for now but maybe
not a year from now, because I see the extra $1,300 a good exchange for the
Factory Navigation and HID headlights.

While this article is BS, it's not entirely untrue. In NY, BRZs are selling quite slowly. There's still a Premium and Limited both MT and both WRB that are about a 30 minute drive for me. I don't really think Subie needs to offer incentives when a Manual Premium costs a bit less than an Automatic FR-S. It's pretty much getting a free nav just for learning stick (if you had to)

I'm still torn between the two...I think the BRZ is the better deal and has the features I want but FRS has the better exterior styling (IMO of course). But I disagree with the articles because I can't find either on a dealer lot and they can't tell me when they're getting more. Suby didn't mention any incentives to come put money down either.

Autoblog says Subaru called BS on the incentive report. They say it was a journalist's interpretation of Subaru's 2.9% APR financing. I think that would be a hard to defend value since it is fairly easy to get <2% APR loans from ordinary banks and credit unions for any car. Here is the link:

truecar's just another service that charges dealers for the pleasure of selling you a car, deals are usually better than the norm but what you see is what the local truecar dealer is offering.

That definitely is a stretch considering interest rates are so low in general.
