This is just another way for them to get readers. If they say "Hey the BRZ/FR-S suxorz!!" Then we are all gonna start talking about it and post links on every forum.

I guess their mission is accomplished.

I'm sure there are dealers who tried to charge $Xk over MSRP, got their cars to 100+ miles of test-drives and now can't move them at MSRP.

The HYPE is starting to die down and dealerships are coming back down to reality. Many dont have their cars yet because they bought into the HYPE....really 5K cars a year is a lot. Wait until next year when they are going for $500-$1000 under invoice.....

yeah it's like a 14 year old pimple faced dweeb writing the article, note that nothing is cited no actual references or instances of this happening, just another kid who's dad was someone, so he thinks he inherits intellect.

obviously this is a load of CRAP, most subaru dealerships are actually offering mark ups lol...
He looks like a well seasoned and extremely experienced journalist... or not.

Considering the 800 BRZs sold is right in line with the amount Subaru said they were going to SHIP, I think it's selling just fine. This "journalist" is clueless.

Huh, http://www.autoblog.com/2012/07/10/s...cion-frs-outs/

I still fail to see why this is really necessary... didn't someone just post that they want a BRZ and can't find one?!

That still links back to the original truecar.com report. I haven't seen or heard of anyone getting a $400 incentive on the BRZ, and truecar.com is hardly an official source. It is amazing to see how one unfounded report can create such a huge story though, and sort of hilarious to see the grand conclusions the blog commenters are drawing from this.

No "HYPE" with this car. It's proven to be everything they promised. Subaru recently started they have orders for cars they won't be able to fill until April of next year. I know at the Toyota dealership I work at we have the next four FR-S we have coming in sold already and a tremendous amount of floor traffic.

If you read the FRS forum, you'll find a bunch of dealers with $5k add ons such as rims, loJack and tint. (overpriced greatly) - so while a cheaper FRS could hurt BRZ sales, I don't think it will until the hype dies down. Maybe next year. Then again, the BRZ isn't just more expensive to be expensive. You're getting appropriate value add ons for the increased MSRP.

Eventually the car will be like any other new car with discounts and negotiations, depending upon dealer and local demand. If you're willing to wait, you can score one for a bargain.

The Hype of being "limited edition"........orders are totally different than what a dealer will be getting.

I agree. FR-S front bumper is much better.

For me it boiled down to Tom Selleck. I'm not a fan of big gaudy mustaches so I put down my deposit for a FRS. But NOOOOOOOO! that's not mentioned at all in the article.

I think the BRZ is a better deal too bad they're so hard to get in Hawaii. I also hate that they force you to purchase extra stuff $1500 more than a FR-S great deal $3000 more crappy deal
