Can anyone recommend a decent one? I see a few on Amazon with mixed ratings. I need to have my 30K service too and I'm trying to cut some costs. If I can test my fluid and see that it's fine, I can cut that out.

My MINI Cooper (which is a BMW product) called for new fluid every year. Yes, you can get away without doing it, just like you can postpone most maintenance. But why would you? To save money?

If you want to save money, learn to do it yourself. It's easy with the right tools and at the rates quoted above you'll come out ahead on $ even the first time.

if you have the money to take it to the dealer or the time to do it yourself and dont mind spend money to throw away perfectly good fluid...

i have not had a good reason to ever change fluid that early. I plan on running higher quality fluid that I will swap out when I upgrade rotors and lines next year but no need to change that fluid out unless you really abuse the car.
