I believe this was the sneak preview picture in the Beijing auto show. The Toyota folks are prepping the mk I before the show. The thingy inside the trunk was the fuel cell, I think. There was no fuel caps from either mk I or II. And I think the rear seat for mk I cannot be folded down. Just from this picture, the trunk space is probably running about 300 liters (11 cu ft) with no or a very small spare tire. It looks like it is a bit larger than the one in the NC miata, and that is what i am basing my guess. |

Thanks for finding that picture ichitaka05!
Goose-neck hinges are crappy and space consuming but they fit the price point of this car and they are light. The trunk volume looks do-able for most things, from what I can see. Shouldn't be too tough with rear seats removed and sliding one tire out at a time from the passenger side door. Not terribly fun though. Of course if you want to put 255 wide Hoosiers on the car, they're not likely to fit 4-across in the rear seat area. A liftback would be much better.

Honestly, I know I'm disillusional but, I'm still crossing my fingers for that hatch version. That looks like a Ferrari FF. I know that's a fan made render but it would be nice to have that. It's a funny thing I've owned hatches before and most of the time I never really use the hatch, but when I do have to it's damn useful fitted 5 people and all of our weeks luggage in that Civic Si Hatch.
Now if there a FT hatch it would be popular amongst the club members because all the hatch owners would go to the track with the coupe owners to help hold their tires. I'm guessing that they're not going to do a fold down back seat with a lift back....so we're stuck with a normal only somewhat useful trunk. As long as it fits two golf bags, at least enough for a weekend getaway with another person. Well I don't see a problem, but still I want that Hatch O___O |

![]() Yes, you're correct, it was preview pic of the BIAS. As for the rear seat not folded down. Current concept prob not, but never know. They might make it into the final production ver. It's pretty common feature now days cars Quote:

I would totally be all over a hatch version if they made one. But I am a hatchback kind of guy. With production issues hitting a lot of industries in Japan do to the disaster, I'm not sure how easy it would be for Toyota/Subaru to have two versions going; standard car and hatch version. Unless Toyota went with the standard version and Subaru took on the hatch version.
Every indication is that Subaru will go with the car version. But we can still hope. |

In my ideal world, this car would carry a liftback (nothing against the hatchback but liftback looks nicer.) with the 50:50 split fold down rear seat. Why 50:50? because this is a 2+2 car, there is no third person for that 20% in the middle. 50:50 split should be sufficient, unless you want to poke a hole in the middle to store snowboard or some sort. In fact, scratch that, use the roof for the snowboards.
