Thumbs up

Installed a Bottomline Splitter, side skirts and rear spats. I got them used and they needed some work but they look pretty good for the price. The front splitter still needs a little work (I had to fill in some scrapes and cracks with epoxy, sand and paint it) but I wanted to get it mounted today, I'll finish it tomorrow. The skirts are in very good shape (paint only, some scratches) and the spats are almost like new (paint only). The former owner's car was lowered.

But still, it sets off the car nicely.

I had my last free service from Toyota a month ago and [since it was free] I let them do the tire rotation. They cross threaded a lug nut and screwed up a stud. Luckily I found it when I installed cambolts and the dealership replaced it no questions, no problems. Toyota of wesley chapel

That said, I'm paying for now on so I'm doing my own rotations and I won't hurry and cross thread any lug nuts. The design of Toyota lug nuts makes it really easy to do.

Is there a solution for this issue? Like better quality studs maybe? I just got new wheels put in so I'm not using the stock lug nuts anymore but I would like to avoid running into this issue again.

The only reason why Toyota fixed mine for free is because about 6 months ago I had new tires put in and when I left the dealership one wheel came off (literally -_-) the same wheel that I couldn't get off the car recently doe I used that to get Toyota to take care of it, I had an estimate from Brakes Plus for $470 to replace the hub before I went to Toyota so I dodged a bullet there. Also about a year ago when I replaced the brake rotors I also had to replace a few broken studs so it's I've had this problem a few times already.

When you don't finger thread the lug nuts first it is, for speed and out of laziness they put the lug in the impact gun first. That's what happened. 99.999% these lugs are as easy to install without cross threading as any other vehicle out there. In 30+ years I never had a lug nut crossthread since i always finger installed first. Lug nuts are fine on this car. If the studs are lubricated then they can be over torque and I can bet they used an impact gun with no torque stick.

Yeah that is the work around. Don't hurry, do it right and thread the lug nuts about half way by hand. I'm sure there's a replacement part but no need.

The tech at Toyota just screwed up. At least the person didn't over torque them. That would have pissed me off more.

I'm just glad they took care of everything, while it was at Toyota getting fixed they also installed the new wheels and tires so its all good.
