My wife came by the dealership AFTER I had already signed the paperwork. She looked inside the back seat "Wow, it's really tiny!" "Too late, I already bought it!" I hadn't seen one in person until I bought mine (June 1st) and neither had she - so we didn't know exactly how big/small the rear seat was when I ordered it a few months prior - but I figured I could get my son back there even if no one could fit in the front. I just needed a car with the ability to sit me plus my son in back. My 5'3" wife does fit in the front seat though with my son behind her.

I plan on buying this car and I am looking for a rear facing infant seats that fit. This will not be the main family car but will be used on occasion. Anyone have pics of the combi coccoro installed? Bump!

I can't speak to car seat recommendations because my kids are older... but if husband and wife are both short, the car can accommodate a family of 4.

I'm 5'4" and my wife is 5'5". My 4'10" ten year old sits behind me (with my seat in the same position I have it in when driving alone) and my tiny 4 year old sits in her booster behind my wife. It's tight but not uncomfortable for anyone. When it's just my wife and I, she does, of course, move the seat back a bit more... And we have an Accord for actually going anywhere with the family.

I think people who complain about the car being too small are just too tall. LOL. This is one of the few advantages to being short that I've ever found.

I tried the Chicco 30 and Recaro Performance Ride today. The Recaro will pretty much hit the headliner, but it will fit...just don't expect anyone to sit in the front passenger seat. I'm 5'6 and while I could squeeze in, it's not going to be remotely comfortable muchless for my 5' tall gf. The thing I liked about it is that it feels solid as a rock and 100% confident that it will protect the baby. It easily meets the proper recline for safety.

The Chicco was a better fit by not hitting the headliner, but gave a tiny bit more room than the Recaro. By tiny, I mean negligible. I'm sure that it'll do just as well in an accident.

I'll be trying a Graco 30 with and without the base tomorrow and report back.

I tried this with our Britax B-Safe ...I put the car seat base in and it was a tight squeeze - my wife fit in the passenger seat but it was an awful ride and honestly I didn't feel like the car seat was as secure as it feels in our SUV. Plus getting the carrier in and out was like tetris.

It may have worked better if I didn't use the base and just did the old school seat belt through the actual car seat. I think the seat would've sat lower and closer to the rear of the car giving more room in the passenger seat - plus I honestly think it would've been more secure and level.

The baby never comes in the BRZ - it's not worth it. I didn't have a choice this time since our second ride was in the shop and we had to go pick it up.

@rmjjensen I found my b-safe is more secure using the seatbelt instead of the latch anchors. The latch anchors pull right in line with the back edge of the base letting the base pivot on the edge, but the seat belt pulls it down into the seat. Similarly, I'm unimpressed with how the base fits in our legacy, the design of the seat cushion in the middle makes it really hard to get the base installed securely.

So I tried the Graco 30 with the base and it fits like the Chicco. The angle was ok with the leveling thing fully extended, but I think that the Recaro reclines the best out of the three and therefore the safest imho. The other two just seem too upright to me and the only benefit to the infant seat with a base is easy in and easy out. I'm not sure if that's worth the extra safety though. I'd rather have the baby pitch a fit every time I move it rather than risking injury by getting rear-ended while being too upright.
