I was thinking the same, especially since I haven't had any issues and I'm lowered to no wheel gap. I can't even see my valve unless I look into the open space on the skid/guard.

It isn't product error and I never said it was. It's a simple and obvious fitment issue. If you think there is plenty of clearance on the standard valve, I can tell you that you need to take another look.

I'm saying that you were obviously driving in a way that caused the car to bounce so dramatically over some terrain and land down on the aluminum skid and the oil pan. Fumoto valve or not you still would of damaged the oil pan.

I was parking. In a gravel lot. If you think I had so much speed that I managed to bounce that much, I question how you park.

All it takes is for a rock or anything to stick up high enough to make contact. It's NOT a skid plate. It can easily be displaced by hand enough to fully expose the valve.

Dude what the hell, you should've expressed that in the main post. You're car is lowered, so it's more susceptible to scrapes at stock height this could've been avoided.

No risk if your not lowered from what I've seen, and either get the short nipple or no nipple. The idea isn't saving 60 seconds, it's saving more than that around 5 minutes of cleaning and getting your sockets there, getting oil on your hands and such, this allows you to change your oil without tools basically. Also no more worrying about stripping a head on the drain bolt or threads

Takes one socket and one wrench. If it takes you 5 minutes to grab those I suggest you organize that tool box. Also, you're working on a car, you shouldn't be afraid of getting a little oil on you. I stated once that removing/installing a drain plug isn't rocket science. Lowered or not, it shouldnt matter. I'm trusting a bolt over this "mod".

To each his own I guess, and it's not 5 minutes to grab the tool, it's 5 minutes of any sort of setup to get things. Some of us don't mod our cars all day and night like it seems you do, being able to change the oil super fast so I can spend time on other things is worth it.

Notice everyone who's lost or damaged a fumoto valve have had it because of driver error or the car has been lowered....

This is my point though. Even if it took 10 minutes longer to change my oil, I'd still rather have the peace of mind. Running over debris in the road with stock ride height is no different that running into the same debris with a lowered car. 1 inch doesn't make much of a difference. I hit a tire a few months back that ripped my front lip off and cracked the bumper. At no point in time was I worried about losing oil. If I had one of these valves, that'd be the first thing on my mind. But anyway, I gotta get back to "modding" my car. Gonna be up all night. 👍👍

I have EZ Valves on my cars, basically the Fumoto valves but in silver plate instead of brass and sold by a different vendor.

The units I use dno't have a nipple and I feel comfortable that thy are high enough above my skid plate to be safe.

If you think you might go over a curb you will definitely have issues, not just with the valve.

I couldn't imagine myself going over a curb, that almost sounds like something someone would do when driving impaired.

There are always choices of risk/reward. There's definitely risk which I acknowledged to myself as I clicked on the Place-order button.

I'm keeping mine. Not gonna lose a wink of sleep over it. It's just as easy for an oil cooler to eat a rock.

Thank you OP for sharing. There is no point in arguing over is it worth it or not. Everyone will decide that for themselves. It is good to know the std nipple is long and could have clearance issues so at yhe very least consider the short or no nipple versions

I've actually ran over a curb, went up a hill, hit a tree, and ran over another curb into a parking lot. I destroyed all 4 wheels, killed the rear suspension, and nearly totalled the car. My Fumoto valve, surprisingly was undamaged.
Stock ride height, and it's the one with the nipple. It sticks out a little from under the "skid plate"
