is your car lowered? Mine's lowered by an inch and I have a beatrush underpanel too but I don't believe I have ever scraped the underpanel enough that it actually hit the valve.

Around an inch lower. I still have a finger gap from tire to fender all around.

ya for a lowered car, the drain valve might not be a good option. I have the shorty and it doesn't extend past the skid plate. I am also only about .8" lowered and I don't really worry about it since I will be scraping my front bumper first before anything touches the valve.

however, always expect the unexpected and not everything is under your control

Pretty sure the pan is dented. Took lock pliers to remove it. Seems to hold oil though, which is weird.

that looks like it could leak pretty easily the way the dent is actually under that crush washer and drain plug. time for a new pan IMO. A few people recommended this to me when i joined the forums and this is just another reason i choose not to run it. Just adds more room for errors like this.

Eh, it holds oil fine and it was running for four days with no issue after it happened, so I'm not really freaking out, but a new pan will be on the way soon.

Thanks for the heads up on that valve.

Yep, that drain plug looks to be sitting sort of wonky .....

Mine's more than an inch lower. I track the car once or twice a year and several canyon runs and never had a single problem with the fumoto short nipple scraping. Either get the short nipple one or put the stock one back.

Yeah this is my viewpoint as well. I've had the Fumoto shorty on my FR-S for the past two years and haven't had any issues. I recently lowered it <1", but not too worried since the valve is recessed above the skidplate.

I will say on my other car (VW GTI), I must have come close to nicking the valve on the street because I usually leave the plastic nipple on it and this past oil change it was gone. No visible damage to the valve. The Fumoto placement on the GTI makes it hang lower, but in any event it's definitely good be careful with the valve on the street.

I have the no nipple one and the whole underside of my car is scraped up (lowered ect) without it ever hitting the valve. I've been paranoid about it for a while but I still love it though. Makes my oil changes real quick @ home.

Sigh. When the Fumoto first came out 30+years ago, I liked the concept but the oil pan on my Celica was way too low and the valve stuck out even lower. So I didn't get one.

I am amazed they are still around since I am sure there have been quite a few of these kinds of hits.

When I got my FRS, I noticed how recessed the oil drain plug was due to the flat four engine. So, I thought I could get one now and I did.

Now, I have to re-think about installing it because I am paranoid...

Always knew these were a bad idea. It's just one bolt.
