As long as their is no spacer on FRONT 02 sensor all is good.

Usually if you have an exhaust leak in header/overpipe or near o2 sensors you will smell exhaust fumes under the bonnet with engine running, or see water dripping on cold start or stains or black soot at joins/cracks

If you look at the header flanges on the photo below you will see one side is clean and one side has black soot, that header was most likely leaking at that joint, that soot would usually be visible at the joint (externally) when header installed

The ticking in motor your talking about might be an exhaust leak, or it might be the fuel injectors.

you can use a long handled screwdriver as a stethoscope to track down the noise. shove one end on the area you want to listen to and the other end in your ear (its usually best to use the big plastic end for your ear :-)

Just also check the grey plug does to grey socket and blak plug to black socket on the 02 sensors where they plug in to car wiring

The GREY plug should be the Primary 02 (first o2 sensor in exhaust flow)

their are only 2 02 sensors

It most likely the injen intake or maf sensor issue.

Uhg. Tried for hours to find a site to upload photos onto to post a pic of mine, but failed. Wouldnt accept my photo. I definitley dont have a spacer on either of my 02s!! Who knows maybe its the first gen header. Never thrown a p0420 despite that. I emailed the company to ask what was up with that.

Grey plug is first sensor! Yep

I dont smell exhaust funes under the hood, but as i said i do get a smell sitting at lights sometimes. Smells good :p not like exhast. Much richer. I was told it was lack of cats.

neverheard of that way of checking for exhaust leaks!! Haha. Very cool. Ill be sure to try and mention it.

Ya i may go to dealer about the tick. I dunno, everyone says thats the way thesemotors sound. I dont like noises. I like quiet smooth idle and noise when its induced. Haha. Should i make a youtube accont and post a video!?

The tick is definitley not exhaust leak. Its a mechanical ticking. Almost sounds as if someones flicking a light piece of plastic few times a second. And it seems like its coming from top right of motor. I dunno i can notice it right by my side mirror on drivers side when im idleing.

Im hoping its juat the intake ttoo. Its so weird how it doesnt stall right now. This morning i unplugged battery to take maf out and clean it. Codes dont show up till about 40km but the cars running great. Sitting still at idle. Not even a clue of a stall. Soon as CEL comes on then everything goes to shit and i stall
At every light

The ticking is likely the fuel injectors.

It likely running fine each time you reset ecu as this resets all the learned parameters like fuel trims to default ie zero in case of fuel trims. Then as the ecu starts learning its throwing the fueling off to the point where is stalling out. This does indicate a air leak , or its just the intake throwing of the maf readings. but it could still be bad maf sensor.

hopefully you can get a stock intake or maybe swap maf sensors with someone, maybe dealer will lend you one for a test.

Do you think im damaging anything by running fine? Is it hurting the injectors? I cant imagine its good. Im driving like a nanny but its killing me. I want to go for a cruise right now :| i doubt dealer would let me but i can ask. I had a diagnostic booked for tuesday. I may cancel it, wait till i get this updated injen intake, they claim will solve my issues. As i feel dealer will just say its the intake/header after reading codes. I do want them to do a total diagnostic though one day for peace of mind. I havent even had the car on a hoist since ive owned it. And im tryin to get a stock intake man!! Nobody seems to have one. Dont know anyone here with an frs or brz either. Maybe ill just follow someone. Hahah. Kidding

Also what did you think the rear 02 not havinga spacer? I cant really find any online without it. But i have the reciepts and its visually identical.

It appears from codes it running rich, should not hurt anything but I would probably not drive it a lot.

If its not tripping code P0420 then don't worry about any spacers then one inbuilt in header must be working fine, its just a emissions warning code.

So plan of attack?
Stock intake or injen updated intake whichever comes first. If those dont get it running better what should i do?

Go to dealer. As their update made things run worse. Pay for full diagnostic. Have a feeling theyll say its the header and intake. And do nothing about it. But i would like a full lookover by a tech to make sure all is good. Would rather do that when its running good though.

Go to tuner. Get them to fix and tune. Tuner here says 700-800$. Done dozens of frs/brz and have them down. Most reputable tuner in my province.

Or theres a member on here selling a unichip. Would that solve my problems? 300$ to potentially run smoother and acthally be able to drive my car sounds wonderful

Why not just get a OFT? I didn't read this thread, so maybe you stated why, but the nice thing about is the OFT is that there is basically no headaches and you tune it with a safe tune.

Welll the only difference is about 600$. I have no idea what to do with a tuner so id be buying it and bringing it to a shop. Unles it just plugs in and figures it out itself

You just plug it into the car and select the tune and it does everything else because there are maps already installed on the OFT.
Stage 1
Stage 2
91 OCTANE, 93, E85

In your case, you would choose Stage 2

The only time I'd suggest a custom tuner is if your going forced induction or trying to attain maximum gains.

You actually don't need to type in your mods, you just select Stage 2 (EL or UEL) which is for cars with aftermarket catless headers.

I never used it, but it didn't seem like a good option personally.
