Interesting conversation / thread.
FWIW. I'm running a 245/40 tire set-up. I drive aggressively. Think daily redline, smell of burnt rubber when I pull into the driveway at work or home. I also have over 25 years behind the wheel, 20 of those years with cars like BMWs and Miatas. My alignment is set with a mild negative camber (-1 f and -2 r) with a slight toe-in front and back (1/32). The tires WILL NOT break loose - which is how I like to drive. With this set-up, I *have to* set the setting to sport. If I drive will all controls on, the car constantly is trying to intervene. Sport mode with my settings lets me aggressively take corners, go in HOT, etc. Personally with the stock tires and alignment, the ONLY time I ever gone all controls off, was with a LOT of room to lose traction. Breaking loose with a 4 cylinder car takes a little practice and more room. With a higher torque car (like an M3 or a V8), it's easier to modulate the throttle to put the car into a drift. With the BRZ... you have to carry some speed and momentum too. |

I turn off VSC and Traction every day. I have a steering angle kit and it flips out if I don't.

In general, it's always on. In the summer, the only time I go full off is at autocross where there is nothing to hit. At the track, I usually drive in VSC Sport mode so I can induce a bit of oversteer without killing my speed but still have the car save me if things get really out of hand.
I turn it off pretty frequently in the winter depending on the situation. When I need to spin wheels a bit to get out of a rut or when driving on slippery roads where the TC starts going nuts, then it's better to disable it. |

got it...so it sounds like VSC sport is for when i want to take a spirited drive on some backroads without killing myself. And the left is for if i'm at a track and i really want to kick out the backend for some donuts.

No offense but that just means you are still learning how to drive it.

On the track all off, but usual daily drive with both on. Sometimes when I go for a drive that i can enjoy I turn both off. On highways, i go for track mode.
