Paint Protection options

most of the detailers in my area who do opti coat pro plus and other coatings such as Modesta or ceramic pro have told me that they are moving away from using opti coat as it's not as durable (not scratch resistant) as the other coatings on the market. opti coat is affordable, but there are better coating options out there that are superior to the opti coat product.

What it will do: You'll have an amazing shine regardless of the weather or conditions. Waxing is not needed so you cut out a lot of time and effort for amazing results. You'll still want to clean the car properly, but the coating makes cleaning easier. My neighbors always comment on it.

What it won't do: protect from regular wear. Eventhough my entire car is opti-coated, my bumper still looks horrible from highway driving (even at just under 10K miles). Rock chips, shopping carts, etc.

My honeymoon phase of worrying over every scratch is now over. Still, I think it was a great decision as the WRB sparkles every time.

Does adding layers of paint sealant like sonax polymer netshield counts? I have done that to mine and seems to work just fine. However, this does not protect the paint against rock chips...

Paint coatings are not capable of protecting rock chips you would need ppf for that.
