LOL Pretty much makes the whole clutch wear debate redundant!

Nope that was not sarcasm but just a joke based on the fact you said you burnt up your car like the bike. That debate is over (as far as I am concerned) so now we can go back to friendly banter and discussion(again as far as I am concerned).

A grudge held over an internet argument is even sillier than an internet argument!

Perhaps it is I that needs to get my joke detector checked then.

Preferred downshifting method?

This seems more like a statement you are attributing to tcoat than a question, perhaps you should learn how to ask a question.

Rev matching is not exclusive to using the brakes so I'm not even sure what your point is. Are you suggesting downshifting without regard to rpms and gear ratio of lower gear or are you in favor of throwing it into neutral and braking to a stop?

Not sure what your deal is but the only laugh people will have on this forum will be your immature passive aggressive comments.

Well what i quoted was not english. It was a mess of a run on sentence.

I will agree with you that any down shifting causes some wear but thats what its made to do and if done right it is immaterial compared with doing dumb shit like clutch drops, riding the clutch and grinding gears on missed shifts.

Not saying i do the above lol

Holy shit lol this thread got nasty

I found this website that I think does a good job of explaining rev matching with diagrams etc:

http://www.drivingfast.net/car-control/rev-matching.htm

People who do it - agree with the way it is laid out on this webpage?

I think that page is a good starters resource but as it says, more than anything, you need to practice to get good at it.

I'm still learning and I practice revmatch downshift every day on my trip to and from work and I'm starting to get OK at it, at least I'm not jerking the car around anymore but I can still feel it most of the time which means it wasn't pefect but I know what I did wrong each time and it's always because either the amount of throttle I gave for the blip wasn't appropriate or I was too soon/late with the clutch or a combination of all those things.

That said, sometimes I DO get it perfect and it feels great because the only thing I can sense is the sound of the blip.

Of course, I start feeling good about my ability and then I do something silly like letting my mom drive and despite it being her first time driving it and the first manual she's driven in like 15 years, she still make me feel like I don't know how to drive at all. I'm like, "how do you shift so well?" and she says "it's just luck".. thanks mom...

Yes!
That is probably one of the most easy to understand explanations I have seen.
Don't feel that you have to get it bang on each time. It really is a matter of close enough will do. Eventually you will not even notice you are doing it.

Oh and this was never "nasty" that was a mild difference of opinion. "Nasty" gets the thread closed and temp bans (or worse depending upon past practice of the individuals) for those involved. These how do I drive threads always end up in some dispute.
