I know everyone wants to be able to say they have a twin charged 2jz swapped twin but... it won't do you any good when you wreck it or get arrested. Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying you're a bad driver(I couldn't know) nor am I saying you'll be street racing but... what good is that toy if you don't play a little? Plenty of people wreck these at 200hp let alone 400hp+.

Do you think it would just be better overall to do the FA20?
How the hell does a 14year old know how to fabricate?

I am in a good mood today, and we can be friends if you are going to be reasonable. Buy a car first and learn to drive before you even consider modding it. Dont bother with an engine swap to be honest they are nothing but headaches.

Well, Im not afraid to learn how to do stuff, such as fabricate and such. I am also not doing this all immediately after buying it. These are plans 2-3 years after buying the car. As I've said before, I just want to get a plan worked up fully before I do anything, so I know what I want to do with no concerns.

Is this a joke? Your parents are going to help with this giant waste of money/endless pile of problems? And if you're serious why stop at twin? I'd do quad charged maybe like the veyrons.

Damn you are onto me! Bit of both I guess. I could swing it but have loads of other toys to pay for first.

As I said in one of your other threads, why do you feel you need more power? What are you basing this need on? The comments of a vocal minority on the internet?
This is not a simple little project where some basic skills can be learned as you go. There are teams of guys with decades of experience that can struggle with some of the aspects of this type of swap.
Dreams are not "plans" no matter how you rationalize what you are doing.

I did my first engine swap (by myself about 80%) at 12 and was fabricating by 13 so those aspects can and do happen. But that was a 55 Chevy and had about 10% the complexity of the project he is "planning".

8.5% hahaha! I grew up in a raceshop helping my dad build engines so I guess I did have some knowledge at a young age, but he sure as hell didnt let me play with the welder

I would suggest an older car to learn on. The first time you learn to weld/hack shit up, its not pretty. At least it wasn't for me

Lots of things I did to my first car that I cringe at, and knowing what I do now I see how I should have done it differently.

Get a cheap beater, hack it up to your hearts content. Transfer those skills to a better car when the time comes.

Why would you take a perfectly good subaru engine out of a subaru car?

2jz was made by toyota.... put it in an 86 instead.

There'll always be concerns with engine swaps. Also, the 2JZ is a boat anchor.

If you're building a drag car, you can save yourself a lot of effort and start with a Mustang GT. Being unique is overrated. Having a car that works and won't grenade its driveline after you've tripled the power output via a JDM fanboy swap is where it's at.

A bunch of my friends did motor swaps at 18-20, and all of them had multiple cars and access to welders and machinists. They all did well-supported swaps on pre-OBD2 cars and even then they had issues. If you truly want to learn how to do this sort of thing, and you really have the funds, I'd get a BRZ as a daily, and then think about picking up something old with a well-supported community of motor swaps. 240SXs, RX7s, IS300s, E36 M3s, Miatas, etc... There are wiring kits, mount kits, and entire forums dedicated to these swaps.

For the price of an engine swap, you could buy a fully-built FA20 long block and run obscene boost. Hell, the PTuning guys have hit 400+WHP on a stock motor. Full Blown's built motors can support 600+ HP.

I know you can't drive yet, have you even ridden in a 500+ HP car before?

Sidebar: that flappy paddle kit is for the 4 speed PRNDL.
