Did you get the correct covers? And do you mean literally twice the size, or just a little bigger? I just did these myself and I can help you out

Apparently, you're supposed to wet it and use a heat gun to help it shrink to fit? I dunno, I failed too and just got the Nokya bulbs instead.

Some of those vinyl overlays are meant to be trimmed to fit. However, I had bought some Rockblockers (same deal as Lamin-x) for my WRX and was bummed that they were slightly undercut.
You don't even need a heat gun, a hair dryer will work as well. It's just to get the stuff pliable so you can form it tightly against the glass/plastic/whatever. I recommend shooting it and the surface with some soapy water (dish soap), lay it on then smooth out the bubbles and let it dry. If you don't have a squeegee/spreader, you can wrap a credit card in a rag. Fog lights are relatively easy. Our taillights are a nightmare to wrap cleanly! If you have issues with the product, give @Bluebatmobile a holler and he can get you some new overlays that are cut correctly. He made the BRZ template off of my car.

Black buttons, just the silver to kill on the wheel left...
![]() ![]() Also thanks to @Jason@DSG for the badass OEM Forever Driven gauge pod and the Tanabe! Once I get the wheel trim and HKS EVC-s EBC installed I'll clean her up for a proper photoshoot.

Just a heads up I don't have the base black trim, my trim is from the BRZ Ts (JDM Sti appearance version.) The Ts parts are a slight metallic black with a bit of sheen to them, where the black trim is raw matte black plastic.

What I didn't realize when I attempted this is you need to remove the fog lights and you need a heat gun. With the fogs removed, you will see that the slight excess film wraps around the edges of the clear plastic that you can't see while the fogs are installed. The film does not rest flush on the outside edge, but when heated up you can make it rest flush. Removing the fogs is easy but a little annoying, just turn your steering wheel, remove 3-4 clips, pull back fender plastic, remove 2 screws holding the fog in, remove bulb wire/plug and pull out. Pay attention to which side each fog light came out of and the orientation.. When I put one of mine back in it was upside down and the light was blinding, I then flipped it and it looked like the other. Last edited by B-R-Z; 11-22-2014 at 11:20 AM. |

You can get transparent yellow vinyl on eBay for like $5 and it'll be more than enough in case you mess up. You'll just have to trim it once you get it on which all you do is take an exacto blade and run it around the fog light.

You could, but I think lamin-x is a step up in regard to adhesive and durability. For an extra few dollars its worth it.

The vinyl I got was pretty nice for the price and amount I got. It wasn't thin at all. It was actually decently thick to withstand rock chips and what not. Its vinyl for headlights not just for stickers. Once I heated it up it was a breeze to put on. No soap or anything like that. Lasted over a year through the winter and would have longer I assume. I took it off as I grew tired of the yellow color. In my opinion Lamin-x is only more expensive cause they took the time to measure the fog light and cut it out for you on a vinyl cutter.

I don't see any chrome anywhere else on your car so I wouldn't go with that. Looks great now as is. If you really want to red or blue.
