congrats on your car guys! i got my silver auto/basic last week.
I must say after driving a yaris around for 3 years this car is super amazing!
Driving is a pleasure again! I've owned a Bmw 3(20) & 5(30) series over the years but they dont compare the fun in driving this badboy!

Do we have a car club for dubai/uae yet! will be great to do meets and all!

I know the purists have shunned the AT but hey if any of you guys ever tested it or get its delivery please share your experience. Mines gonna take a while till then I hope to see your feedbacks. P.S Ultra get Vkool or so ASAP bro this summer seems too harsh. Cheers

Thanks for the pics. And yea Imti even im curious to know about the service plan as I would also get it along with my ride.
Take it easy when you read arguments from the A/T & M/T debaters. Scr3w them! Choose what fits your requirements.

I test drove an A/T about a month ago. Great paddle shifters, way snappier in changing gears than the ones on my sonata for sure. But that's a poor comparison. My bad. The car is just as much fun with the A/T as it is with the M/T trannies.

Autoguide and Moto-P from our forums are biggest deal makers for me. Both recommended the A/T to be just as good as the other. I will suggest you try the automatic for yourself too.

Go to Festival City showroom. Meet with my sales guy. His name is Aftab (reception should guide you to his seat) and request him for a test drive. Tell him Imtiaz sent you, which isn't a guarantee he'd let you drive one but hey who knows, maybe he will

No harm in trying! You will be pleased to know that I chose an A/T over M/T for many reasons including the wife and the BRZ interior. Not to mention the awful daily bumper to bumper commute Dubai is popular for amongst us residents.

Thats awesome Imtiaz! Will surely chk out the festival city showroom. Will be going there next week. They have my contact for the test drive but will try again personally. My main reason for the 86 is that im kinda bored of my fortuner and find it criminal to drive a suv daily to work alone (just looking for an excuse to convince myself that i ll save petrol be eco friendly)
Lets hope your ride arrives soon! Keep us updated!

for the video!

I think the "shitty" headlights actually look pretty good with fogs.

If you need to get a test drive or buy the car go down to szr and speak with the sales agent named Tariq. The guy is really very helpful, and I must say he pulled all the strings to get me a quick test drive - he sat in the back seat while my brother and I test drove the car (not fun in the back seat). Best of all he pulled through my car in just 5 days!
I must say I am impressed with Toyota sales as they were amazing. They even got me a trade in for my yaris at much better than market rate!

Ultra! Congrats on your new car!

Just wanted to make a comment about the A/T , I got my car here in Beirut in mid June and they only had A/T available. The A/T has been an absolute joy to drive and is probably the best (although from a limited selection) automatic transmission I've driven. The downshift blipping (which Toyota calls Dynamic Rev Management) is music to my ears and the upshifts are quick and responsive. The only time I've experienced any sort of lag is when I upshift, and then downshift right after (usually traffic related).

The Sport setting on the transmission scared me the first couple of times I used it. The car refuses to shift up until it hits the redline. Even going up to 7k rpm and then lightening your foot doesn't make the car shift, it stays right there til it hits the redline. Also, under braking, it automatically downshifts (with blipping) to keep you in the higher rpm power-band, an adrenaline-fueled roller coaster, amazing experience.

I have yet to try the Snow mode, but I'm sure that is for more reserved situations anyway.

Also, the flappy paddles allow you to downshift for engine braking even if the car is in D (not M).

and Ultra, I completely agree! Everything gets slower when you drive this car, its like it has some time-bending magic techniques or something. Flying down Lebanese highways is a joy, everything is in slow-mo and you slip right through all the traffic.
