Watch carefully. I think that even before the brake check they significantly slowed down. 0:14 - 0:15 they go faster than the minivan and around 0:16-0:17 they slow down. I can see no reason for that other than trying to "teach a lesson" to the tailgater. |

Why would the guy in the front give his way out? He was passing too.

I've given up worrying about people who clog the left lane. It's almost and immovable object at this point. I just safely pass on the right when the moment affords me the chance. I know that's technically illegal but I have never heard of anyone pulled over for that.

I most if not all US states it is legal on wide roads. Your Georgia: "Upon a street or highway with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lanes of moving vehicles in the direction being traveled by the overtaking vehicle." Here in VA it's a bit more restricted "On a highway with unobstructed pavement, not occupied by parked vehicles, of sufficient width for two or more lines of moving vehicles in each direction" ("highway" in Va includes streets, so theonly difference is whether there are parked vehicles.) |

There is no point in complaining about left lane hogs. If there is a left lane then there is another lane. A lane in which you can pass. Left lane should be for passing but for the average absent minded corolla driving drone who isnt paying attentionjJust go around if their speed is too slow for your liking.

2014 law in GA actually makes the fast lane hog illegal. I think I remember hearing about this but didnt know that it was actually being enforced. Good on GSP. |

Some states (like CO) there is a law that if you are holding up more than X (I think it is 5) cars you need to move over and let them pass. It is intended for mountain roads.
I have never heard of a LAW that states you may not pass in the right lane. That would be nearly impossible to enforce. What about when traffic is moving at a snails pace? Is the right lane not allowed to inch forward faster than the left lane? |

In many European countries passing on the right is generally forbidden. Specific exceptions to the rule allow to pass on the right in the situation you described, or in some other circumstances (like passing a car turning left). But generally you cannot just pass on the right on a multilane motorway. On the other hand, the law usually require to stay as close to the right a reasonably possible, unless actually passing, or preparing to turn left soon.

hmm, well I was pleased to see this lol.
Who knows what the front car/driver did, but a great example of why not to tailgate. |

Yes car in front did the brake check. That was wrong...say ....10% but the car purposely tailgating was wrong at 90% for continuing the tailgate for more than 5 seconds. I've found myself accidentally tailgating here and there, but come to my senses and either slow down or move out of the way
