I love beer. But four of the breweries I went to were in Texas, that was last weekend. This weekend I went to one that's about 20 miles away. Most of them are north of me a ways. They're not far, but it would be nice if they were 5 miles away.

5 miles? That almost gets me to Randolph in the city, which adds more between here and there...

Chicago isn't Portland, but...

There are at least 3 within 5 blocks of me (though two aren't open yet I think.) Also a distillery. And some really good bars (40-50 on tap.)

I'm jealous. Though my wallet is glad I don't have that kind of access.

It's actually 6 within 5 (maybe 6) blocks.

Who knew!

Probably 20 or 30 just heading south on the main drag toward the city (I'm just shy of 7 miles N of the city center,) including one you can probably get there: Goose Island.

What's even better is I only ever take public transportation nearby (or walk) so drinking is only limited by how I want to feel in the morning, not by the need to drive.

The restaurant scene soaks most of my money though, but it's worth it.

That's insane. I didn't know they had that many there. And I was actually just drinking the Goose Island Pils. I enjoy it.
