Random thoughts:

Hmm.. I think I may be coming up upon crossroads at work in the near future.

Think there is a push to get me to the next level behind the scenes. Been getting nudged more than usual to get certs. Also been asked to do more than the norm - tasks usually done by people 2 levels above.

Thing is, next level requires so much technical knowledge, which I don't have.. and involves more stress.

However, the compensation is pretty nice I suppose (nothing else to compare to)...

I realize that this question will be just ripe for ridicule concerning how I got this problem, but here goes anyway.

My right hand is hurting quite a lot right now about where my fingers join my palm. It seems to be due to the little jolt that it gets whenever I shift. Now I admit that I like to make a good crisp shift and so there is some force behind each one. My question is this: will a larger shift knob help alleviate this problem? I'm thinking that it might spread out the force a bit so that my palm isn't taking a beating every time I change gears.

And before any of you even go there, I've been married for nearly 28 years to the same woman. So I didn't get the injury from playing with my other "stick shift."

Shift softer? I do a nice crisp and very rapid shift by just pushing or pulling with two fingers or the butt of my palm. Just let the shifter do the work for you. I haven't grabbed a knob in decades.
But if you want to continue the Vin Diesel method then yes a larger knob would help.

This is coming from a guy who actually used to start a 1-2 shift with my shifter hand across my chest and out the window, WTF are you doing shifting so hard it's screwing up your hand?

I like to shift my BRZ with my index finger just to show my old-school buddies how amazing this new fangled stuff is. Relax.
