That makes sense. I just know I have seen so many people in that situation where the cops just walked away.

Yea, I have too, usually because there is no obvious evidence. However, I've had this happen to one of my kid's cars about 10 years ago at a Lowe's big box home improvement store. He called the police to file a report, they sent a patrolman over who took the time to check the store film, and wrote a "not a fault" report. When we got the police report a week later, they had tracked down the other driver and they had been basically charged with hit and run rather than just the "at fault" part.

I could see why they wouldn't bother in a no-fault situation though.

A police report assigning fault means the other person and their insurance is responsible for paying damages. At least in every state I've had people hit my parked car (NH and MD)

Thank God for the carpet rinser/vacuum machine. I just finished cleaning up a scary looking coffee spill. Yikes!

Last weekend I was putting new flooring in my downstairs washroom and while moving the toilet out to a prepped cardboard spot in the living room managed to drop it. This of course resulted in a nice round yellow 7 inch circle of wax and ummmm stuff from the seal on the carpet.
I wasn't optimistic but broke out the old (well actually pretty new) steam cleaner and...

Nice! I was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked with just some warm water. I jumped on it before it had a chance to dry.

How difficult was your mess? I hate carpet.

Well I did need to tackle the actual wax with some lacquer thinner. Was afraid anything strong enough was going to ruin the carpet but if I couldn't get it out it was toast anyway so didn't have much to lose.

To echo the others, I think you would have better luck asking Costco to get you a copy of the video so you can possibly ID the car and turn it into insurance. Let them deal with it, that is what we all overpay them to do.

I thought we overpaid them to market to us their middleman service most people legally need while actually accepting no risk of their own because they have insurance insurance and you really don't want to know where that comes from.

Update on this situation, cop call me saying that he was able to read the plate number and able to contact the guy. Police said that, other guy was older "gentleman" & wasn't aware of swiping my car... 3 other ppl at the gas station (me included) heard and saw you swiping my car. How do you NOT noticed that. That goes into more of what if he swipe a bicycle rider instead of my huge ass Highlander? SMH ...BUT he admit his mistake, so his insurance will pay for buffing my rear bumper lol

Also because he wasn't aware and he was older person, police changed the "hit-&-run" to... forgot what he said now.

Now, I gotta go to the shop to get an estimate (maybe $100 to buff it out?).
