Saw the photo of remake Lamborghini Countach. Countach was the first Lambo I’ve ever seen in person & get in love with. I’m glad to see they remake the classic super car… but €2 million? Oof!

Edit: Was adjusting trailer brakes. Of course I get to the last wheel and the bearing is toast

Doesn't look like there is much brake shoe left either -

Bubba says no problem. Iffen the bearings aren't falling out of the race, just clean up the bearing, race and spindle and pack it real tight with some good old fashioned HD bearing grease (with asbestos). Just don't pick your nose with that grease on your fingers. When putting it back together, back off the nut two cotter pin notches (that will reduce the pressure on the bearing). Lastly, when you adjust the brake shoes, back off 5 clicks from seated, that will reduce the pressure on that wheel by it not braking so hard.

Believe it or not, those are barely worn.

I repacked all the other bearings when I was working my way around. The last one's outer bearing is just cooked, no saving it Owner wants all 4 replaced so I get to do it all again.

Yeah I had a mutt that was part sheep dog growing up. We used scream and then run in the backyard to see how far we could get before he tripped us. Of course we were kids so we were indestructible.

Yep. We always had little dogs when I was growing up... a miniature poodle (NASTY, miserable creature, but it was our dog and we still loved him), and then a small terrier mix. As I kid I always loved big dogs. When I left home and moved off campus during college, I adopted a 5 week-old pup from a local farm whose mutt had bred with a coyote. GREAT dog, about 40 lb as an adult, loved all people, but didn't really like other dogs. EXTREMELY smart, and a nose and sense of direction like I've never seen. I've got all kinds of stories about that dog, but he had more retriever instinct than herding.

THEN... we got our first German Shepherd. Took me a while to learn not to run full tilt with him because he'd always "cut me off" to herd me. He did that once after I just started to jog a bit to see if I could run after letting two broken ribs heal for a week or two. Sent me to ground... and almost re-broke the ribs. Not fun. That taught me about herding tendencies the hard way. He was a great dog... so great that we continued to have German Shepherds for the next 30 years. Loved them all.

This Kelpie is insane.. in the best way. Really smart, INCREDIBLY strong for a 40lb dog... it's like the all of the strength of a German Shepherd with the agility of our chihuahua and the brains of the coydog. THIS is a sheepdog!

Oh, I reckon they don't make-em as thick as they used to. I remember back in the day, blowing the asbestos containing brake dust off the brakes. We didn't know -

Well we named it "wolf" because it looked like a wolf cub, and it did howl more than bark really... but it grew up to look more like a fox, lol. It was deff part sheep dog because of its behavoir and fur though.

Dog treats are some of the most disgusting, foul things I've ever smelled. How on earth it smells good to a dog, I will never know.

Get the bacon flavored ones. They smell like....wait for it.... BACON!

The all natural organ meat stuff is good, but it does smell like what it is...guts. When I really need to use a treat for serious motivation, i.e.,a complex task that would otherwise frustrate a dog, or a session that might not be at the best time of day in terms of a dog's intellectual energy level, I generally just use a baggie in my pocket with some finely chopped cooked chicken. Keep some in the freezer, pick out a small handful,and throw it in the baggie 8n my pocket. Thaws fast, doesn't take much, dogs love it,and they consume the little chunks almost instanly so no waiting for them to munch a treat during training.

One of the things I struggle with, and the reason I tend to use more praise and chin scratches/chest rubs than treats, is NOT having to rely on treats to get a dog to want to complete a task. Usually I treat only to get them to understand a task... After it's obvious they get it, or they accomplish it once, I go back to just verbal and physical praise, re-treating only when absolutely necessary.

I know folks get better faster results than I do with heavier treat usage. Can anyone offer some pointers and observations on how they wean the reliance on treats? Always trying to learn...

As a for instance... Our Kelpie will "Come!" instantly if one of the following two things is true..

1. I've had him "Stay" at any location, even 50.yards.away, first.

Or

2. I have a piece of chicken.

If neither are true and we're just "hangin'" in the yard together, his return enthusiasm is really low. He understands, and almost always complies, but he takes his time.. kind of meanders back over to me as he wishes.

Been working with him for 5 weeks, with two really long (and bad) week long interruptions due to caring for less well-trained guest dogs, so I'm not too discouraged yet, but still looking for a much better response before I can trust him off lead anywhere off our property.

All thoughts appreciated!
