I was looking at making custom pins... dear god, it's not cheap! First of all, can't get it below 50 order. Secondly, even company do below 50, each one is like $90. One site quoted me $250 for just 1!!!

I was thinking of making my family crest pin. Simple nickel 3/4" circle, soft or hard enamel pin.

Shit, for half that price you can buy your own little CNC and make your own.

Get a vpn and use that to look for flights.

Choose somewhere weird and not near your destinations.

won't help with time, but should help alot with price.

Yeah, you can get a decent little resin printer for 200 bucks.

Edit: Snapmaker has a 3-1 3D printer, laser, CNC for 1200. I have been looking into one of these.

I tried that. For some reason it is just stupid expensive and difficult to get into the very NE corner. It is cheaper and faster to just fly into Boston.

Um... not sure worth spending $2,300 just to make a pin. Of course, I could use it to engrave something into the knives I make.

But before doing all those, I need to make a space for blacksmithing for the new house.

Yeah, but you could also use it to CNC knife handles if you bought material by the sheet. Comes with 3 years of free software.

The snapmaker with CNC and laser engrave along with 3D print for 1200.

Yes, you can get decent 3d printers for cheap that will get you into it while you learn. I have this one, it does okay but you are limited in the material you can print since the hot end can't handle the heat to do certain materials. I just upgraded to direct extruder so it should be able to do more.

There is also this little resin printer they sell for 240 that does nice work.

Metal, probably not. Extruder temperature needs to be real high, so not really sure it is safe to operate one at home lol.

But resin printers are pretty cool. Takes a bit of learning, but you can get details like this... (Coke can for size comparison)

All about the size of the airport and a bunch of stuff. Trip up to Maine is a nice little drive from Boston. We've made the trek a couple times, always nice to visit a site or two in Boston itself. Though we head up to Ogunquit rather than Portland...
Also are you looking at a travel site, or an airline? Time of year and a bunch more also effects price of course...

Let's see. Lost wax setup includes a kiln usable for enamel also... If you're doing blacksmith stuff it's worth being able to do castings of non-ferrous metals anyway. I wish I had space here, I'm part owner of an anvil and a bunch more stuff with a "maybe someday" plan.
I've mostly used a centrifuge style but vacuum is probably better. Definitely safer.
