I read the manual for my $750 blender. That's right, my mother sent me a blender that cost more than my first car.

Looking at the break-in instructions, it says to keep it under 4 for the first 100 smoothies. This is going to be hard. I can't wait to open this sucker up!

Atlanta does have sustained temps in the 35 to 45 degree range for a few weeks in the winter. That seems to be the "sweet spot" for this type of issue.

I have seen no evidence of my freezer doing anything but staying solidly frozen, but you have given me more reason to move garage heating up on the list. I have 220v and gas hook up in the garage, plus 110 switch covered off at the ceiling. garage heater here I come!

I followed the break-in instructions on my FR-S and kept it under 4k rpm and all it got me was a bunch of oil consumption later on.

I say turn it up to 11 and let it rip, life is short.

It becomes pretty obvious, things that should be solid get soft. If you have any frozen bread or ice cream, that's the best test. Of course, you could also stick a thermostat in your freezer, or if it has an temp alert, it should go off.

It could be your freezer works fine in this environment. if it's older it may. It seems to be an issue with newer (as in the last 20 years) refrigerators and/or freezers.

Most newer Frigidaire freezers are rated to work down to zero F. Those are the one's I'm looking at now.

Having the furnace in there would make a difference. My garage is uninsulated on three walls (if you include the door) and has no heat source in it. The ceiling is insulated as it is the floor of our master bedroom. It takes it a while for the temp to drop in it, but it will eventually get to where it almost matches the outside temperature, particularly since we open it at least 4 time every work day to get the two cars out.

We have gas heat, and I probably should insulate the walls and add a minisplit or a gas heater to it. I wouldn't keep it at house temp, but keeping it above 50 degrees probably would be of a benefit.

Dadhawk, last year i installed a mini-split in my shop by myself. It was very easy to do and makes life in the shop much nicer. I found MrCool on line then found that Home depot is a distributer. I am in Fl so i only got cooling. If i were to do it again i would get the heat too. It does not take long to get spoiled. The new systems are all recharged, i had to get a vacuum pump. I was lucky that my shop has 220 on a separate panel so even the wiring was easy.
