I have one kid that I called that keeps offering me $5000 CASH BRO.
I explained that the only reason I am selling is because I am getting a new car and I can get over $7000 for trade in.
His reply was "Well I have cash"
Me "Yes but I lose $2000 by not trading in"
Him "Well you can only trade in if you are buying a new car"
Me "I AM buying a new car.
Him "I have $5000 CASH"
Me "I am not losing money to sell you a car for under the trade in value"
Him "But this is cash"

I stopped at a grocery store on my way home yesterday to pick up a couple of items. The guy in front of me had about 100 cans of various foods and meats, 3 25 lb bags of rice, several large bags of beans, several gallons of cooking oil, and (surprisingly) no beer.

He just oozed "redneck prepper". Fortunately, I didn't catch that disease.

Of course, he could have just been restocking after hunting season, who knows.

I always laugh at that on the various car shows I watch. I get it that cash makes the transaction easier (and maybe gets around some gov'ment things), but does it really make someone drop their price 20% for cash?

He does not seem to grasp that an extra $2000 in trade in is still $2000 in my pocket.
