Had a very productive weekend.
My sister is starting to renovate her house and one big ticket item was her kitchen. It still had the original kitchen from the 80's with baby blue doors and a pink counter-top. The professional installation quotes she was getting were way out of her price range... so my dad and I were able to design and budget a new one for her at about 1/5 the cost of bringing in a contractor. The boxes are all 5/8" melamine edged in oak and the doors are 3/4" shaker style solid oak with a natural stain. With the savings they can also get a nice quartz counter-top. She really wanted her lower corner cabinet to have lazy susans with a pull-out drawer. Shopping around for pre-made ones were about $500 per shelf. I was able to custom-make these for less than $50 each including hardware... works quite nicely. I did all the design in sketchup and made up plans in AutoCAD. There are a few minor errors (can't complain too much when the labour is free!) but overall the install went quite smoothly. They should have their new counter-top in by the end of September... so we will return in October to fit the rest of the doors, do all of the molding and baseboards, and finish up any little details that remain. As an added bonus no more fingertips were lost during this portion of the work

I moved a piano this weekend by myself: cracked a rib. I am an un-happy camper right now!
My collar bone and cracked ribs from a crash at the end of march just healed.

Yes you must be atuned with the task if you do not want to get strung up, as @Leanardo has learned the hard way.

Met up with a "family member" today walking out for lunch to our remote parking lot lovingly referred to as "Jurassic Park"....
This big boy was out looking to feast on squirrels and chipmunks. (Lousy photo because I took it quickly before he flew off, I believe it's a Cooper's Hawk, or what we call a Chicken Hawk here, but not sure. It was at least 18 inches, and may have been 24 inches tall)
