Well folks, now that I've quit shaking, I'll tell a story.

It was a sunny day, so my toddler granddaughter and I headed up the street to the mailbox. She was good and held my hand (including stopping at the street and looking both ways for cars before we crossed).

However, on the way back, just as we were about to cross the street a car was coming. We stopped. After the car passed, she broke lose and headed across the street, not seeing the second vehicle coming. I yelled, ran after her, grabbed her and we did a combat roll in the street in front of the van.

Thank God, the van driver saw us and slammed on its brakes and came to a stop.

That was a lesson learned for me for sure and hopefully for her.
