Now, THAT brings to mind a back-in-the-Army story. It was a training holiday, back at Coleman Barracks, in Germany. So, since dental care was FREE in the military, I decided to go to the Army dentist for a checkup. This young dentist was drafted (as a Captain) and was NOT happy serving his country. After an examination he said I had four impacted molars that should be removed and that it was a slow day for him and he could chop two of them out right now. Me, being a lean, mean, 1st Lt, I said OK. As he proceeded, he just kept bitching about how much he hated the Army. I suggested that he just keep that to himself and not to take it out on my teeth. After, which seemed like forever, after many shots of novocain, he was getting upset because the roots of the teeth were curled and imbedded in my jaw bones. His efforts with a chisel and hammer were not getting him the desired results. Enters this fat, mean LTC (dentist type), giving the Captain a bunch of grief for taking so long. I started to bitch but he ordered me to shut up and that I was being a baby. He then reached into a cabinet and pulled out this very large, weirdly shaped plier looking instrument and he was going to show the Captain how to use it. Even though I couldn't feel any pain, I could hear the crunching of teeth and bone. Welp, he got them out, gave me two handfuls of military strength codeine pills and sent me to my quarters. About 2 hours later, the novocain had worn off and the pain was killing me, so, I started popping the codeine pills. After another 2 hours, the pills were not working their magic, so I called my buddy, who was the battalion surgeon. He told me to take more codeine pills, which I did. Now, the uncontrolled bleeding started getting real bad ....... so, with my wife driving and me spitting up blood in a bucket, we headed for the military emergency room. There they stitched me up and gave me some more codeine pills. So, with a mouth full of cotton gauze and a system full of codeine, I slept soundly. That's the LAST time I went to a Army dentist! THE END humfrz |

Woot, late reply!
![]() Yup, still have the FRS. An unfortunate act of nature (or local crappy drivers) will have to pry this orange cone away from my hands. After ~3 years of ownership, I have to say I have been spoiled by this car. More "normal" econo-cars just feel like crap; even though the FRS is an econo-sports car its self. I'm sure this feeling may pass as time goes on, but my eventual next car has to be on equal terms or better with regards to driving feel and overall enjoyment... Unfortunately for my wallet, that'll probably be a Porsche or Corvette... |

I supported an Indiegogo campaign in November. Put down something like 70 or 80 bucks on it (Campaign in question was the dBrand Grip).
Other people have started receiving their cases, and I still have nothing in hand. I think this is the last time I buy into early access stuff. Just isn't worth it in the long run. |

I agree. mrs humfrz has a nice sedan with a 3.6 l V-6.
It has a 6 speed AT with a manual mode and paddle shifters. The first time I drove it. I slipped the shift lever down into "M" ...... she promptly slipped it back up into "D" ...... saying, not in my new car you aren't ...... I've seen you trying to shift your car too many times ...... ![]() humfrz |

Took the mrs out to the picture show tonight. Saw "Tomb Raider"; it was entertaining, but nothing to lay awake at night thinking about.

The spy novel portion of the plot was good (and is what was emphasized in the trailer) but the rest was a distraction. I know it was meant to make it edgy but I didn't buy it. Should have seen Tomb Raider instead.

Disagree on both counts.
Nothing wrong with a (good) AT in a sports car or roadster. Also, nothing wrong with a manual transmission in a luxury car. I always thought the CTS-V Wagon with MT would have been a cool unicorn to own. The major problem now is they are adding so many gears to these types of cars an MT would just be tiresome. Then new CT6-V will have a 10 speed AT.
