No sponges in my youth, they were expensive ......we were poor farm folks ...... we used corn husks.

Come to think of it, most of the toilet paper in Europe in the 60's, felt like corn husks......

After the German girls tired of nylons and candy bars ...... I found the soft, white, rolls of TP from the PX made good trading material .....
