Yeah it's the funny little caveat about hardware and software is that they need drivers to talk to each other. It's like how you can't just go up to a random chick and be like "I want to fuck." You have to introduce yourself, then talk to her friends, find out what she likes and doesn't, then there is the testing (or dating) phase... it's complicated.

This has been one of the weirdest emotional rollercoasters of my life. All the hours of research were very fun since I learned a ton in a very short time. Receiving the parts was exciting, because it was like christmas. Assembling was great, since it was like lego. First boot was nerve wracking. "No signal" on my display was like getting punched in the ****. Finally seeing the set-up screen was the worst, I wanted to stand in front of a mirror and chew myself out for sucking at my first attempt but it was such a giant relief to have all the effort result in the intended effect

Haha... You sound like me about 30 years ago. You are embarking on a journey to a whole new world of frustration.

It gets easier. ...a little.

Watching your build has made me want to build another tower in the worst. I probably have enough crap to build a frankenstein machine but I want to build something fresh and new.

If I could do it again, I'd buy a pre-built rig, maybe something used and slightly outdated, then replace things part by part. But easier to dip my toes in that way, instead of the proverbial cherry popping by Ron Jeremy.

So many of the trouble shooting steps I found online were a bit over my head. I have a passable knowledge, but I lacked some important items like a mobo speaker (will be buying one asap), that kind of held me back today.

On the plus side, since I've built my system twice now, I'm fairly proficient at it. If all my future builds can take 30 mins to put together and then have 5 hours of subsequent trouble shooting, I'll be a happy man.

Lol jk, I'm never doing a full, fresh build again.

Like I said, I've overall enjoyed it, but I definitely jumped in head first and with very little real world support. Getting help from people on the internet is fine in most cases, but for a n00b like me, a pal beside me would have been the best bet.

I've done both, the fresh build makes you feel accomplished at the end though. Besides you'll know your ship in and out.

Anyhow, how did everyone's Valentine's Day go? We had a very quiet night. Ordered in from a very good burger joint. I had one beef patty and one bacon patty on mine. Bacon patties are absolutely amazing. Gods gift to man. The gf also decided she wanted specialty fries topped with what I can only describe as the devils excrement. They may have been the most spicy thing I've ever eaten in my life. It was pulled beef in a jerk sauce with ghost peppers. I had maybe 10 fries from it, and the woman had almost the rest. I do not envy her bathroom trip tomorrow morning.

I say, unless your diet is really on point, don't do it. To gain muscle and lose fat effectively you have to walk this fine caloric line. Too much you get fat, too little and you get fat and lose muscle. Too much of non-clean calories and you'll gain fat and lose muscle. It's a massive pain in the ass
