Yup. I think that the mobo is DOA. I still need a mobo speaker, but at this point, I'm in no rush. I'll order one today along with a different video cable, just in case it's the HDMI not working/configured/whatever. I'm assuming that DVI-D would be the default output, over Display Port and HDMI?

I think it depends on the board. I have an older one that wouldn't do HDMI on the first boot-up but almost every other board I've had will do it.

Cole, gonna beat a dead horse here, but you sure the video card doesn't have a plug? I couldn't find your original specs but I remember when looking at it it sure looked like it would. Pretty much any card with that size fan on it is going to have a plug.

What was the card specs.

EVGA 1050Ti SC. Manufacturer site confirms it doesn't need power. If you can find a plug on this card, you're obviously much smarter than I am.

Sounds like the video card just hates HDMI. Am going to wait for the DVI-D cable to come in, before either setting the mobo on fire or returning it and getting one with on board video ports.

Uh, no, you can't buy a GT86 in North America. You can buy an 86.

And if you want to get super semantic, there's no difference between a base 86 to an FRS except for the badge, so no, they were never triplets.

But if everything is seated properly then it should boot even with no monitor hooked up to it.

No other slot to try for the video card?

I don't know man, I had it all torn apart, got in the car to return the mobo, but because of that fire on Yonge, traffic was cray cray so I turned around. Got back to the GFs and was like "fuck it, the new RAM came in, let's just give it a shot and cross my fingers".

Glad I did, this is such a relief to know that I'm not completely retarded.

And if you ever buy more ram just get the exact same brand and model it's supposedly better that way (dual channel mode if that's still a thing these days).

I wonder how they manage to start a 6 alarm blaze in a badminton club like they smoke while they play? lol!
